The mission of the California Immigrant Policy Center (CIPC) is to uphold the humanity of immigrant communities in California by transforming systems to achieve racial, social, and economic justice. CIPC is a non-partisan, non-profit statewide organization engaging in advocacy, organizing, and strategic communications to uplift immigrant communities. CIPC was founded in response to the 1996 passage of federal immigrant and welfare laws that profoundly affected immigrants. Today, CIPC advances inclusive policies that build a prosperous future for all Californians, using policy analysis, advocacy and capacity building.

Over the past 28 years, CIPC has led groundbreaking campaigns that have greatly expanded protections, as well as access to publicly-funded services and programs, for California's low-income immigrant populations, including but not limited to the Safe and Responsible Driver Act, the TRUST and TRUTH Acts, CA Values Act, E-Verify Bill, the Health for All campaign, California Earned Income Tax Credit (CalEITC), and One California, the largest investment in legal services protection in the country.

Job Title: Development Director

Location: Los Angeles, CA (Hybrid Position)

Term: Full-time, occasional evening and weekends required

Position Status: Exempt

Pay Range: $100,00 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with skills and experience.

Reports to: Executive Director

POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Director is responsible for leading all fundraising coordination efforts for CIPC, including private and public grants, corporate philanthropy, individual donations, Board stewardship, major gifts, and sponsorships

Working under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, and with strategic collaboration from members of the Executive team, the Development Director is responsible for raising CIPC's annual operating budget through diverse development strategies. CIPC is a growing organization and the Development Director will support the Executive Team and the Board of Directors in achieving organizational fundraising goals, including diversifying and sourcing new income streams.

As a member of CIPC's Management Team, the Development Director will foster a productive, supportive, and equitable work environment, as well as contribute to CIPC's organizational development. The Development Director will also design and implement a strategy to build a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization.

The Development Director will oversee Development Associates, and will strategize with the Executive team to further develop and strengthen the Development department.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Establish the annual fundraising goal alongside the Executive Director.Lead the development and implementation of the annual development plan, which should include private and public grants, corporate philanthropy, digital marketing, individual donations, Board stewardship, major gifts, and sponsorships.Proactively contribute thought leadership and concrete proposals to improve cross collaboration and a better work environment, organizational development, and strategic direction of the organization's work as a member of the Management Team.Lead majority of grant writing, submission, and reporting, with support from Development Associates and members of the Executive and program teams.Supervise the Development team, which includes mentoring and successfully guiding development and implementation of work plans and professional development.Manage CIPC's development tracking, including grants and individual giving through spreadsheet trackers and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) programs.Lead digital marketing strategy with support from communications staff.Research, cultivate, and steward supporters to build CIPC's individual donor and major gift programsEnsure relevant program staff across departments are aware of grant deliverables and critical calendar milestones.Plan and execute sponsorship cultivation to support CIPC's conferences, regional trainings, and special events.Evaluate performance and adjust strategies as needed.Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with major donors, make appointments and meet with foundation officers and other prospects, and provide regular written updates to corporate and foundation donorsConduct research to identify new, high-level funding prospects.Develop written materials for donors highlighting the CIPC mission, vision, and activities and support consistent donor messaging in all internal and external communications.Work with CIPC's Board of Directors to support board giving and fundraising.Oversee the direction of a variety of events, including mailings, RSVPs, luncheons, receptions, invitations, catering, rentals, budgeting and staffing.Support Chief of Staff with subgranting to regional and direct service partners.Oversee the management and regular updates of CIPC's development and marketing materials.Work with program staff to plan, develop, and implement fundraising strategies for specific projects and programs.Collaboration with Communications department to create multimedia resources for development purposes.Represent the CIPC at organizational functions and events, particularly fundraising associations and events.Train board and staff on development-related activities.Assist with the hiring and evaluation of staff.QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of ten years of experience in development and fundraising, with at least three of those years including experience working in a director role.Minimum of seven years of supervising experience.Demonstrated experience and track record in the nonprofit development space, including grant writing, donor cultivation and stewardship.Proven track record of raising an annual operating budget of at least $5 Million.Proven track record of successful event planning, especially fundraising events.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write compelling donor communications and marketing materials.Strong leadership and management skills, with experience managing a team of development professionals.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, Board members, and volunteers.Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple projects, and prioritize well in a fast-paced environment.Strategic thinking - Ability to understand the fundraising trends locally and nationallyExperience fundraising for low-income, communities of color preferred.Experience with and knowledge of computer operation; knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.), and CRM database applications.Special Requirements - occasional travel is required.COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

Salary Range: $100,000 - $120,000

CIPC is a unionized workplace and is represented by Immigrant Advocates United-United Auto Workers. This position is not in the bargaining unit. CIPC provides a comprehensive benefits package to its employees:
