Founded in 1917, VCU's School of Social Work is a long-established leader in social work education and research. With BSW, MSW, and PhD programs, as well as fully online and on-campus learning modalities, ours is one of the largest accredited, comprehensive social work programs in the United States. VCU is a preeminent national, urban public university and health sciences center. One of only 28 public universities nationwide designated as both a Carnegie designated Research Intensive (R1) and Community Engaged University, VCU was also recently recognized as a Minority Serving Institution. Summary
The VCU School of Social Work invites applications for a Research Coordinator position with a focus on social determinants of health and prevention sciences. The Research Coordinator will join a vibrant research team at Innovation in Child and Family Wellness (Innovative Wellness) Research at VCU. This role involves conducting research on the prevention of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), the promotion of child well-being, and the efficacy of a trauma-informed preventive intervention. There will be considerable opportunities for the Research Coordinator to participate in program evaluation, implementation of prevention programs, project coordination, recruitment, data collection and analysis, manuscript preparation, and grant writing. The position will entail some supervision and collaboration with graduate students, research assistants, and undergraduate students in the lab. All staff positions require the completion of a 1-year probationary period based on performance.
Qualifications
Minimum QualificationsMaster's degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related discipline required.Demonstrated experience in conducting intervention research, including focus groups, in-depth interviews, and curriculum development.Possess strong initiative and communication skills.Proficient in working with research data and performing relevant data analysis.Proven track record of working with diverse child and youth populations.Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.Preferred Qualifications
Doctoral degree in social work, psychology, public health, or a related discipline is preferred.Previous experience in intervention research areas, including trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning and development, and evaluation research, are highly desirable.Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills are essential.Prior experience in intervention implementation and evaluation, as well as those who have experience teaching and working with youth in school or community settings.
