Veterans: VCU faculty and University and Academic Professionals are now eligible for enhanced leave accrual rates based on verified military service. Job Summary:
Position Primary Purpose and General Responsibilities:
Reporting to the VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center Director of Events, the coordinator of events is responsible for supporting the comprehensive events program within Massey. The coordinator works collaboratively with colleagues to gain feedback and inform program design, enhancements, or modifications.
The position serves as a lead planner for assigned events. Is responsible for providing input on strategy, planning, and execution of logistics for events such as donor/fundraising events, retreats, educational symposiums/seminars, staff appreciation, and occasional smaller high-level events.
This position will be involved in all aspects of events including visioning, budget, marketing, on-site coordination of event/vendor, event execution, post-event evaluation, and metric tracking. The coordinator will develop and track ongoing relationships with event contractors, vendors, and partners.
The position provides virtual event support with scheduling meetings, running webinars, and providing technical support. This position will require working some off-peak hours for event planning and execution, as well as potential overnight travel for out-of-town events.
Qualifications
Minimum hiring standards:Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience in events in a fast-paced, complex environmentExceptional oral, written, and interpersonal skillsExceptional planning and organizational skillsAbility to build relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, build and maintain accurate and conscientious budgetsAbility to prioritize, focus, work independently and be a self-starter.Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so at VCUPreferred hiring standards:
Undergraduate degree from an accredited universityExperience in event planning, project coordinator, or administrativeExperience working with databases and tracking data/metricsExperience in event management systems and applicationsResponsibility Statement:

Support all aspects of assigned Massey and university-wide eventsProvide support for budget, staff, timetable, communications plan, event procedures, and more and execute events for MasseyWork collaboratively with appropriate departments, schools and colleges to achieve a common goal of creating meaningful engagement opportunities with Massey's mission at the center
