Job Description

The purpose of this position is to develop, implement, and supervise community education youth programs and courses, to oversee summer camp operations, and to build youth program revenues. Develops course descriptions and curriculum for community education youth programs; and expands youth programs to include new courses reflective of current trends and emerging interests.

Ensures compliance with and adherence to college, county, state, and federal regulations, guidelines, and policies for youth programs and summer camps; develops procedures to maintain regulation compliance for youth programs and camps; monitors youth program instructors and staff for compliance and quality assurance; effectively communicates with students, parents, supervisor, instructors, staff, and colleagues; and supervises and trains youth program instructors and staff.

Duties include determining community interests and needs for programming and classes; developing course descriptions and syllabi; assisting with marketing initiatives scheduling rooms, faculty, and other resources and obtain required supplies and materials; submitting documentation to request state funding for eligible programs; monitoring departmental budget(s); providing data and documentation for program assessment; establishing and maintaining community and vendor outreach and relationships; and performing other duties as assigned.

Employees of Harford Community College, including instructors for online and virtual courses, must be residents of Maryland or the contiguous states of Delaware, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia or the District of Columbia; non-residents are expected to relocate to meet this requirement.

Required Education

Bachelor's Degree

Required Experience

Minimum of 1 year of experience developing, implementing, and supervising community education youth programs and courses and 1 year of supervisory experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & AbilitiesProficiency in a Windows-based computer environmentFamiliar with computer systems and collaborative educational programsAbility to manage and navigate MS TEAMS, Zoom and Microsoft 365 programsProficiency working with large database programs, including compiling, organizing, and extracting data for reportingExcellent communication skills. Effectively communicates with students, parents, supervisor, instructors, staff, and colleagues; and supervises and trains youth program instructors and staff.Preferred Qualifications

Direct experience supervising and managing Day Camp and/or childcare programs and staffingKnowledge managing and implementing MD Childcare licensing regulationsUnderstanding and experience with MSDE certifications and licensure.Masters degree Education, Youth Development, Social Work, Recreation Management or related fields of studyCPR and First Aid Certified

Hours per Week40 - 100%

General Weekly Work Schedule

40 hours/week M-F, 8 AM - 4PM school year; M-F, 7:30AM - 5:30PM summer scheduleFinal work schedule to be determined by the supervisor. The position requires availability on some evenings and weekends for class management and statewide meeting requirements.
