System Administrator III

**Job Summary:**The System Administrator III will be responsible for providing system administration and support for a large client-server based IT enterprise. They will have experience in installing, configuring, and networking UNIX and/or NT based platforms, managing user accounts, performing system backups, and maintaining system configuration files. Additionally, the System Administrator III must be able to develop and implement enterprise backup/recovery strategies, server configuration, and consolidation, and ensure the health and status of the entire IT infrastructure.
**Qualifications:**- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred- Eight (8) years of experience in system administration and support of a large IT enterprise- Alternatively, five (5) years of full-time computer science work experience can substitute for the Bachelor's Degree- Fundamental understanding of operating systems and familiarity with UNIX or NT commands/utilities- Experience in installing and configuring hardware, operating systems, and commercial software packages- Strong knowledge of enterprise backup/recovery strategies, server configuration, and consolidation- Proficiency in supporting enterprise services such as DNS, NFS, e-mail services, and security protection mechanisms- Industry-recognized professional certification is a plus
**Responsibilities:**- Install, configure, and network UNIX and/or NT based platforms- Manage user accounts, perform system backups, and maintain system configuration files- Develop and implement enterprise backup/recovery strategies- Configure and consolidate servers, and monitor the health and status of the IT infrastructure- Provide support for enterprise services like DNS, NFS, e-mail services, and security protection mechanisms
**Additional Qualifications for HPC Division:**In addition to the above qualifications, the System Administrator III for High-Performance Computing (HPC) must have experience in:- Installation, configuration, tuning, and support of multi-vendor servers running various applications to meet HPC support requirements- Working with multi-vendor servers running Red Hat or SuSe with different types of storage setups- Managing distributed computing tools such as ReS, LSF, and SLURM- Supporting HPC farm systems, HPC MPP clustered systems, and Front-End servers of Special Purpose devices- Familiarity with IBM or HP Blade servers with different backend setups- Working with multi-vendor filesystems such as XFS, GPFS, and Lustre- Conducting pre-factory testing, factory testing, system integration, and acceptance testing during the purchase process of HPC systems- Holding an IAT Level II Certification
