Job Profile SummaryUnder limited supervision, this position provides central oversight to improve the functionality and compatibility of Broward College physical security systems and faculty and staff ID cards to best safeguard the students, faculty, staff, and assets at Broward College. This position is responsible for assigning the appropriate card access and the printing of all ID badge/access control cards for the College.Attends construction project meetings and works closely with other college professionals in the administration of all college life safety physical security technology, including but not limited to: emergency campus phone towers, wired card readers, battery operated/wireless card readers, door contacts, intrusion alarm devices, cameras, video recording/surveillance devices and data, license plate recognition systems, motion detection devices, and associated infrastructure (network and server administration, database maintenance and management, mechanical and electrical repairs) serving over 8,000 cardholders including students, faculty, staff, vendors, off-campus businesses, and temporary access holders.Required to troubleshoot devices to determine if a service call is needed for internal College partners (IT, electrician, Telecom, etc.) or a service call from the College's security integration vendor.Preventative maintenance of battery operated/wireless card readers and associated wireless devices.
Minimum Education:Bachelor's Degree required.An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.Minimum Experience/Training:
Six years of relevant experienceFour years of experience in physical security related field, experience working with data management software, physical security and camera/surveillance software.Should be able to meet requirements of the college automobile use requirements.Availability to respond to emergencies at a College campus or center after traditional work hours - evening and/or weekend as necessary.Experience as a project manager preferred.Experience working with the CCURE software system preferred.Experience in working with low voltage electrical issues such as door operator hardware, etc. preferred.Minimum Certification/Licenses:
The ASIS PSP (Physical Security Professional) Certification preferred.Valid Florida Driver's License required or, as a condition of continued employment, a Valid Florida Driver's License within 30 days after beginning employment by the College.Essential Functions:
Daily - 20%: Conducts annual reviews and updates to the college physical security master plan utilizing security industry standard reviews, audits, and risk assessments. Responsible for progressing physical security technology on campus by integrating campus systems, enhancing data security, seeking new technologies, and standardizing hardware and security devices and develops both strategic and long-range plans for all college physical security technology.Daily - 15%: Serves as a liaison between the Department of Safety, Security and Emergency Preparedness, our authorized security integration vendor and other constituencies including, but not limited to Facilities and Campus Administration to design, implement and troubleshoot card access and CCTV system problems and to ensure issues are resolved.Daily - 15%: Responsible for operation of ID card processes including, but not limited to, ID creation, doors, alarm devices, cameras, printers, and system workstations.Monthly - 5%: Responsible for research of security related technologies and formulating recommendations of new security equipment and applications for incorporation into the college environment including recommendations to accommodate regulatory requirements. Responsible for ensuring training is developed and presented as it relates to new technologies deployed.Monthly - 5%: Provides daily customer service for Broward College ID operations including, but not limited to, configurations, programming, schedules for locks and unlocks and reviewing daily transaction logs, as well as card making, and authorizing cards for access.Monthly - 5%: Oversees contracted service vendors for access control software, hardware, and digital camera/video systems.Monthly - 5%: Prepares and carries out scope and work for any on campus capital and non-capital projects assigned by Captain, Campus Safety to include bidding process, scheduling, progressive monitoring, testing, and commissioning.Monthly - 5%: Maintains and develops budget for physical security infrastructure, operation, and identification card system.Monthly - 5%: Maintains and develops both strategic and long-range plans for the card access, ID card, and digital camera/video surveillance systems on campus, including, but not limited to, card design and establishing usage.Monthly - 5%: Works with Facilities Project Management, Maintenance, and Locksmith; specifies appropriate hardware, and provides technical support. Creates in CCure a schedule of battery replacement for all wireless devices to ensure batteries are replaced before the device fails.Annually - 5%: Creates and manages security systems, and standardizes policies and procedures; review annually.Annually - 5%: Develops and maintains inventory of all security system components; reviews and updates quarterly.Other - 5%: Performs related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of all physical security processes and technology including the administration of all card access and F systems infrastructure including, but not limited to, network and server administration, software updates, database maintenance and management, mechanical, troubleshooting and repair of low voltage electronic devices.General knowledge of office management and software.Ability to effectively communicate with a variety of constituents both verbally and in writing.Knowledge of computers, peripherals, theory and principals.
