WSP’s Grants Strategy & Development group

supports our clients in planning, preparing, winning, and managing competitive grant funding from federal, state, and local sources. This position would focus on serving a wide range of clients that range from public to private entities and ensure their grant funded projects are implemented and comply with all applicable terms and conditions under the grant award. In terms of project types, it is anticipated this position would work with clients on projects that address energy, climate change, decarbonization, sustainability, research, pollution reduction and other initiatives to protect the environment.

Your Impact

Provide post-award grants management and compliance support to U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) funded projects

Support clients in the grant obligation of their awards and implementation of their DOE and EPA- funded projects

Demonstrate general knowledge of federal policy, federal legislation and grant guidelines

Contribute to business development activities in pursuit of grant support consultant contracts

Contribute to client engagement and foster client relationships; current with trends, opportunities, etc.

Serve as task lead / key staff for grant manage support contracts; manage scope, schedule, and budget

Actively contribute to client relationships (both internally and externally)

Support the professional growth of our junior consultants within the Grants Strategy & Development group

Overseeing the development of reports, memorandums, and client ready documentation

Lead client meetings and workshops

Who You Are

Required Qualifications

5-7 years of relevant experience

Bachelor’s degree

Strong analytical and quantitative skills

Proven experience managing staff

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Demonstrated research skills and experience

Grant writing experience for federal discretionary government programs

Experience with the grant post-award management activities for DOE and EPA funding. This can include executing grant agreements, ongoing reporting and compliance, tracking performance measures and closing out the grant funded projects.

Experience with DOE and EPA grant online portals and systems for post-award activities.

Support clients in the obligation of their grant funds;

Experience with developing best practices and processes for grants management activities.

Past project management experience, including projects, schedule, staffing, and budget

Manage time efficiently and ability to work well with multiple deadlines and flexibility to adapt to unanticipated client requests for grant development and/or management support

Ability to think creatively, work independently, and deliver high quality work with minimal oversight

Ability to lead teams, synthesize problems, and communicate point of view and analytical results

Significant experience using Microsoft Office’s suite of applications and their higher-level capabilities

Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures

Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree is preferred

Experience with the DOE and EPA funding opportunities, including discretionary grants and funding incentives. This can include developing grant applications, letters of intent, reviewing Funding Opportunity Announcements, and Notices of Funding Opportunities.

Experience with the US Department of Transportation (USDOT), Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funding and financing programs such as the Capital Investment Grants Program (CIG); Section 5307, 5337, and 5339 formula programs; other discretionary grant programs; and federal financing programs such as FFGA, TIFIA and RRIF

FTA grants management experience (post-award) with FTA's TrAMS system.

Grant writing and funding strategy experience for infrastructure projects

Post Graduate Education (Graduate Level Courses Short Courses, Masters, PhD in Planning or other related disciplines)

Active member of local professional organizations

Compensation:

Expected Salary: $83,200-$145,530

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
