National Grid's Graduate Development Program (GDP) is a year-long development program for recent college graduates who aspire to take on future leadership roles in a dynamic, ever-changing industry. Graduates will shape the future of National Grid. Bringing fresh thinking, new perspectives, and exploring with energy, we'll give you real responsibility and an opportunity to move with purpose from day one - putting the power to supercharge your career in your hands.
Graduates start their careers at National Grid with an in-depth 3-week in-person Orientation which gives you exposure to all parts of the company, allows you to network with your Graduate cohort, GDP alumni, and senior leaders, and provides you with the opportunity to travel throughout our service territory in the northeast US. Following Orientation, you'll begin working in full-time position outlined below and take part in ongoing development activities including quarterly development sessions, active mentorship, and a Hackathon Project.
Information Technology and Digital Graduate Rotations
Graduates in our IT & Digital team will take part in an 18-month exploration. Your first 6-months will be in the role outlined below and you will return to this role following two broadening 6-month placements designed to provide you a breadth of experience within your functional area and accelerate your progression at National Grid. These placements will provide you with the opportunity to solve complex problems and focus on growth that will transform the energy sector as we know it.
About the Position
Our vision is to be recognized as a world leading Security function in the energy sector and a trusted partner across National Grid businesses. As an Associate Analyst, you will be a key member of the Network Security Engineering service tower which oversees email security, gateway security, and security services. You will be closely working with other members of the network security team and Group IT teams to ensure continued success operation of the National Grid digital data network. With a multi-national network footprint, this role is ideal for those seeking a challenge in a growing business, providing critical infrastructural services to user communities and being part of its success.
This is a hybrid role with as needed time in the office based on collaboration, meetings, and trainings.
What You'll Do
You'll be a part of a global team (UK and US) that works in a fast-paced environment, supporting critical initiatives impacting millions and helping to keep our data and assets protected!
You will:
Work with the business, Product teams and users to define needs, identify problems, evaluating potential solutions, demonstrating, and implementing improvements.Performs analysis of Network security needs, responsible for design, install, configuration and maintenance of Firewalls, Load balancers, web application firewalls, Zscaler Internet access and Private access solutions.Fault handling and escalation (identifying and responding to faults, liaising with 3rd party suppliers, handling escalation through to resolution).Collaborate with Network and Security teams on finding the right solutions to existing problems.Challenge ideas and methods while working together with talented, highly skilled team members.Maintain and develop knowledge of technology trends.
What You'll Need
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Technology or related degree is preferredfrom an accredited institution
Graduated between May 2024 and June 2025
Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on June 2, 2025 or July 7, 2025
Valid driver's license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid's Safe Driver policy
Applicants for the Graduate Development Program must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)
