The Site Director oversees the day to day execution of the Y-Before School initiatives of physical fitness and creative educational and recreational activities. Hours include Monday through Friday, 7:15 - 9:45 am at all Roanoke City Middle Schools and the Kirk YMCA. Driving one of our 15 passenger buses may be required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEnsures the safety of all middle school children.Supervises and evaluates all Program Assistants.Provides direct communication with parents school staff and administration.Ensures compliance with licensing regulations.Is directly responsible for the safekeeping of all facilities and equipment.Keeps accurate files of program participant.Train and supports staff.Maintains accurate records of attendance for DSS participants and maintains EEC machine.Attend job related training and staff development meetings.Responsible for maintaining and growing enrollment.Leads in Y-After School program activities and curriculum.Coordinates nutritional snacks or meals and keeps accurate meal records.Acts as a liaison between the Y, the school and the community.WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Ability to stand for periods up to 4 hours.Exposure to indoor/outdoor elements.Participate in large motor activities.Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency situation.Ability to observe participant activities in order to enforce safety regulations.Ability to interact in group activities.Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.Minimal exposure to the illnesses of school age children.QUALIFICATIONS
Be 21 years of age or older.Have at least 48 semester hours in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or other fields relating to group work with children. (or otherwise meet licensing standards)Two years experience in a group childcare setting, or equivalent experience.Ability to interact effectively with a diverse range of children and parents.Strong oral and written communication skills.Love working with children.Be a positive role model.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimal of 2 years leading an after school program.A degree in Early Childhood Education/CDA certification.
