POSITION SUMMARY
YMCA Sports Program Leader provides meaningful and enriching opportunities for youth in YMCA programs that are offered at Bayview YMCA. The Sports Program Leader will assist in the building with growth, facilitation, and supervision of the Youth Sports Programs at the Bayview YMCA. This position is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, interactive, structured, and well-supervised environment during sports coaching and instruction. Within this role, the Sports Program Leader will work to build and establish relationships with community and facility members at our branch and offsite sports program locations. Individuals hired for this position will work under the supervision of the Sports Director, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSMinimum 21 years of ageMust have 2+ years of experience working with youth (Middle School or High School)Must be highly motivated to provide quality out of school time opportunities to youthMust be a team playerKnowledge or expertise in youth developmentMust be comfortable leading physical activities with youthMust have experience coaching or training youth in sportsMust be available daily M-F during program hours from 4:00 - 7:00 pmMust be available for weekend games and tournamentsCurrent YMCA approved CPR and 1st Aid certification (can complete upon hire)Fingerprint background check clearanceTB Test clearance within last 2 yearsMust be willing to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as neededPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
3+ years of experience coaching youth sportsExperience coaching youth basketballBi-Lingual skills in English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, English/Mandarin strongly preferredConnections in the local San Francisco community
