POSITION SUMMARY

The Bayview YMCA is seeking an On-Call Program Leader for school year camp programs and to serve as needed at various after school program sites.

The Program Leader provides meaningful and enriching opportunities for youth in YMCA programs that are offered at local elementary and middle schools. The Program Leader will help students develop and strengthen academic, physical, and social skills through tutoring and mentorship. Program Leaders will provide academic enrichment and tutoring in classroom groups of up to 20 students, as well as organize and provide outdoor recreational activities in the school yards. Individuals hired for this position will work under the supervision of the Program Site Coordinators and Directors, and will need to be flexible, willing to take initiative, be punctual, and able to make a commitment to work throughout the entire school year.

Salary range: $19.50 to $22.00 per hour

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS18+ years old for elementary school programs, 21+ years for middle school programsAssociate's degree or higher, or High School diploma/equivalent, plus any of following:

Completed 48 college units verified by transcriptPassed CA Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST)Passed District Instructional Aide Exam

Experience working with youth (elementary or middle school)Highly motivated to provide quality program opportunities to youthTeam playerKnowledge or expertise in youth developmentComfortable leading physical activities with youthAvailable daily Monday-Friday during youth program hours; shifts vary ~1:00-6:00 pmWilling to participate in bi-annual evaluations and supervision meetings as neededCurrent YMCA approved CPR and First Aid certification (training available upon hire)TB Test clearanceFingerprint background check clearancePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Child Development or related fieldBilingual skills in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, or other languages strongly preferredKnowledge of arts, dance, drama, or sportsConnections in the local community
