BASIC
FUNCTION
The Director, Purchasing & Transportation, reporting to Chief Operations Officer, is responsible for leading the company's overall procurement efforts, transportation efficiency, and related pricing strategies across all geographies in which Valicor operates.
RESPONSIBILITIESPrincipal Purchasing & Transportation AccountabilitiesEstablish, administer, update and optimize performance of Valicor's procurement capabilities and supporting programs and systemsEstablish, administer, update and optimize performance of Valicor's transportation capabilities and supporting programs and systemsEnsure that all Transportation related policies, programs and procedures are consistent with applicable Federal, state and local laws and regulations (including OSHA, IOSH, FMCSA and DOT) and with relevant standards, best practices and recommended guidelines.Deliver on the above in close collaboration with Valicor's Operations and Commercial organizationsGeneral
Able to develop and tactically implement a comprehensive purchasing strategy in a fast-paced environment.Hands on working style with vendors and operations to drive down cost by identifying cost savings opportunitiesAbility to drive consistent and sustained implementation across the enterprise.Provide a continuous improvement approach to optimizing the effectiveness and efficiency of the company's in-house fleet, as well as partnership with third party transportation providers to augment capacity when needed.Strong experience in fleet and asset optimization, including asset allocation, purchasing, subcontractor utilization, and route mapping.Significant experience in acquisition due diligence and integration.Fleet maintenance management experience preferred.Develop, maintain or implement business continuity and disaster recovery strategies and solutions.Performs other duties as assigned.REQUIRED SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

B.A./B.S. in related field or equivalent work experience requiredMore than 5 years of experience in purchasing, including leading teams and systems implementation.3+ years of experience in transportation management with a minimum scope of 150 power units, strong preference for waste or hazardous materials transportation experience.Experience working across multiple sites or in a dynamic safety-environment strongly preferredExperience working with sales and distribution and/or chemical and industrial manufacturing organizations
