Basic Scope/Purpose:

Serves as main point of contact at the site for Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental Programs. Conducts receiving, in-process and final inspections in accordance with established guidelines; provides quality tools required for creation of conforming product to associates outside the department; communicates quality principles, practices and requirements to others as appropriate; utilizes advanced quality disciplines in the analysis of processes and product; supports continuous improvement initiatives; utilizes a Lean/Six Sigma improvement approach as appropriate when providing quality support.

Quality:

Serve as the primary Quality Assurance resource to department supervisor(s) for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.Develop, apply and document quality requirements and standards for the manufacture and inspection of product.Design and implement methods for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.Establish supplier quality requirements and monitor and evaluate supplier performance.Oversight for all internal and external quality audits, along with customer visits.Develop internal employee training programs to support quality expectations along with training records.Collaborate with suppliers, customers and internal process owners to resolve quality problems and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.Support New Product Project teams to provide for smooth transition of New Products into the regular manufacturing process.Support Engineering, Manufacturing and Marketing with product improvements.Highlights potential quality issues to management in a proactive manner.Responsible for documentation for first article inspections (PPAP)Career Progression Opportunities:

Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.B.S. degree in Engineering, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related fields preferred.Experience in evaluating/interpreting CalOSHA, EPA, SCAQMD and DOT regulations and NFPA, ANSI, standards.Working knowledge of the Lean / Six Sigma problem solving methodology.Excellent communication and influencing skills (written and verbal).Strong computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets and databases.Demonstrated history of taking initiative, meeting commitments and assisting in the creation of new tools or solutions to achieve business results.Highly detail oriented; checks own work, keeps accurate records, organizes information effectively.Ability to take initiative, to meet deadlines, and to work in a team environment.

Coordinate the safety and environmental programs within the facility.Conducts regular QHSE inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and assess compliance with established protocols.Analyze QHSE data to identify trends and areas for improvement and develop action plans to address any identified issues.Lead onsite safety committee meetings.Ensure required training is conducted with associates.Performs monthly sustainability metrics reporting.Collaborate with HSE Manager and Human Resources on Workers Compensation claims.Guide, support, and participate in local safety committee.Engage the workforce through safety contacts and floor walks that address. housekeeping, safety inspections and safety observations.Lead incident investigations and recommend corrective actions.Manage incident reporting process to effectively prioritize, assign action, and close out identified risks in our business.Promote / develop a positive HSE culture within the assigned sites.Ensures site environmental compliance with applicable environmental regulations and site permits related to stormwater, air emissions, and waste generation/disposal.Performs site stormwater sampling.Performs environmental reporting required by South Coast AQMD, LAFD/CUPA, EPA, California DTSC, and California State Water Resources Control Board.Coordinates hazardous waste management and reporting.Performs backup shipping duties as needed.
