Vice-President of OperationsJob Summary:The Environmental Compliance Manager will be responsible for ensuring the shipyard's operations comply with all applicable environmental regulations and standards. This role requires a deep understanding of environmental laws, policies, and best practices specific to the shipyard industry. The manager will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of environmental programs and policies to minimize the shipyard's environmental impact. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as an environmental compliance specialist within the shipyard industry and possess strong organizational and leadership skills.Key Responsibilities:Regulatory Compliance:Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including air quality, water quality, waste management, and hazardous materials handling.Environmental Programs:Develop, implement, and manage environmental programs to reduce the shipyard's environmental footprint. This includes pollution prevention, waste reduction, and energy efficiency initiatives.Audits and Inspections:Conduct regular environmental audits and inspections to identify areas of non-compliance or opportunities for improvement. Prepare and submit compliance reports to regulatory agencies as required.Training and Education:Provide training and guidance to shipyard staff on environmental policies, procedures, and regulations. Ensure all employees understand and adhere to environmental compliance standards.Incident Response:Lead the investigation and response to environmental incidents or spills, ensuring prompt and effective action to mitigate impacts. Work closely with emergency response teams and regulatory agencies as needed.Documentation:Maintain comprehensive records of environmental compliance activities, including permits, reports, inspections, and training records. Ensure all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.Stakeholder Engagement:Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies, auditors, and other stakeholders on environmental matters. Foster positive relationships with local communities and environmental groups.Continuous Improvement:Stay informed about the latest environmental regulations and industry best practices. Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement in the shipyard's environmental management practices.Qualifications:Experience:Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, with at least 3 years in the shipyard or maritime industry.Education:Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.Certifications:Professional certifications such as Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), or equivalent are preferred.Language Skills:Bilingual in English and Spanish is highly desirable.Knowledge:In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations specific to the shipyard industry.Skills:Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
