Job Overview:Search Solution Group is seeking a
Purchasing Assistant
on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturer of high-quality insulators essential to maintaining a resilient and safe power grid. The Purchasing Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the purchasing department by managing inventory, maintaining procurement records, and ensuring a smooth supply chain process. This role is vital to ensuring that materials and supplies are ordered, tracked, and delivered on time, contributing to the company's profitability goals.
Key Responsibilities:Provide administrative support for the purchasing department and assist with ordering supplies and raw materials.Prepare purchase orders and ensure approval from the appropriate department or buyer.Receive Material Request Orders (MRO) from the shop or maintenance department and create purchase orders.Schedule incoming and outgoing shipments and ensure materials arrive on time.Follow up with vendors regarding late or missing shipments and report any damaged goods.Coordinate vendor activities, support vendor relations, and gather pricing data for comparison.Maintain detailed records of purchases, including quantities, shipping information, and costs.Manage the company's inventory levels and determine when new purchases are necessary.Review vendor invoices as required by Accounts Payable.Expedite orders as needed and handle the disposition of non-conforming materials.Assist with special projects assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.Requirements Include:Education:
Associate Degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.Experience:
At least 2 years of purchasing experience required.Skills & Certifications:
Strong communication, negotiation, and computer skills.Knowledge of blueprints, computerized purchasing systems, and MRP systems.Key Competencies:Attention to Detail:
Ability to accurately maintain records and ensure timely orders.Organizational Skills:
Manage multiple tasks and shipments while coordinating vendor relations.Problem-Solving:
Address issues such as late shipments, damaged goods, and non-conforming materials.Communication:
Effectively communicate with vendors and internal teams regarding procurement needs and status updates.Additional Information:Work Environment:
Office-based with periodic interaction with vendors and shipping personnel.Travel Requirements:
None, but the role requires close coordination with external suppliers and vendors.Reporting Structure:
