SUMMARY:The Director of Employer Development manages the Employer Development team and works closely with the Career Center Director to develop and implement strategies for the Carlson Business Career Center to improve the quality and increase the number of local and national companies who hire graduate and undergraduate Carlson students. They will communicate these strategies to key administrators in the programs served. The Director will interact regularly with the other CBCC leaders to keep current on student needs and challenges which impact relationship development efforts. A large focus for this role will be on collaboration within the career center team and across the Carlson School. This person will build liaisons throughout the Carlson School and the larger University. This position will lead the team to enhance relationships with existing client firms (account management) and will add new firms to the client base (employer/business development). They will participate in regular relationship building meetings and events with corporate recruiters, alumni and human resources professionals to discuss hiring needs. The position also involves identifying and tracking existing and new business development as well as developing regular reporting for the career center director and the broader CBCC team. Working with the Employer Development team they will manage the employer aspects of career events, including career fairs, career exploration conferences and networking events. Some local, regional and national travel will be required of the position which may involve some evening work.**This is a hybrid job, meaning some days will be spent working in the office and some days will be working remotely.Salary range is $81,000 to $91,000 depending on qualifications.
JOB DESCRIPTION:Employer Development Strategy (40%)Set strategy in alignment with the Exec Director for the annual employer facing team's plan in terms of goals per industry and program, employer outreach, maintenance of existing relationships, and on campus employer activity.Effectively communicate plan and results with Employer Development team, CBCC leaders, Assistant Deans of Undergraduate and MBA/MS Programs, Corporate and Alumni Relations, Program offices, and other career services counterparts in the University ensuring all stakeholders are aware of goals and progress and its impact to Carlson students.Drive the team's employer engagement strategy both locally and nationally ensuring the team is serving as a strategic partner to our recruiting partners. Maintain, develop and expand relationships with all recruiters, company representatives, and alumni with local and national companies. There will be a focus on expanding internship and full-time job leads among current Carlson recruiting partnersTrack progress toward employer development goals and motivate and manage team to achieve goals on a weekly/monthly basis. Maintain Employer Development Dashboard to track and analyze this data on past and current companies that have engaged with Carlson students.Identify and work through barriers to the team's employer outreach success.Develop a target national strategy that includes a select number of metro areas with the goal of creating opportunities for market employers to engage with Carlson School students.Maintain current knowledge of graduate and undergraduate employment markets, recruiting trends, and hiring practices of target companies and industries.Identify and actively participate in industry/function-specific conferences and professional association meetings and events.Develop summaries (and lead team members to do the same) of client visits in Salesforce, document results and communicate as appropriate to Career Center teams and students.Student Services (20%)Lead team in identifying the best way to partner with the student facing coaching team and engage with students directly to showcase employer engagement opportunitiesLead team efforts to serve as liaison to student clubs across undergrad and grad populations when they want to engage with employers, identifying club connection points among their teamDevelop annual trek plans based on students' interests and industry locations. Mentor and manage team members who are leading individual treks in various target cities.Serve in a leadership role in the Career Center and work closely with the coaching team and Career Center Director on overall Career Center strategies.Participate in quarterly tracking meetings. As struggling students are identified, work with the Employer Development team to develop job leads and push resume books.Assist the department, Corporate Relations, and student clubs in identifying corporate sponsorship support for career and student-led events.Develop and assist with a communication plan to ensure that students are aware of the Employer Development team's efforts and offer an opportunity for student input, specifically with various tabling and student engagement events.Leadership, Management and Supervision (25%)Supervise the employer development team. Lead team in their development and prepare annual performance reviews.Develop employer development strategy and ensure that team members are adhering to minimum weekly activity requirements and meeting defined placement goals.Lead team in maintaining current employer engagement and on campus recruiting activity and compare and contrast activity year over year. Develop goals for employer engagement growth and manage the team to meet set goals.Evaluate Employer Development team structure and ensure that relationship managers are aligned to appropriate industries and attending industry related events in order to become industry experts and trusted advisors to our recruiting partners.Serve on appropriate school-wide committees.Collaborate with Executive Director with ranking surveys by supplying recruiter contacts and recruiting statistics.Participate in activities that support the overall growth and strategy of the Career Center.Collaborate and sit on leadership meetings with Exec Director and CBCC leadership about overall placement strategy and office operations.Marketing and Events (15%)Identify need for new events/restructuring of current events that connect all Carlson students to employers.Oversee and participate in the development, planning and implementation of events designed to connect employers with students ensuring target number of companies attend.Lead and manage the Recruiter Advisory Council and Employer Advisory Council (plan meetings and communicate regularly with members). Determine best structure for these councils and continually evaluate engagement ensuring value to employers and team.Manage and conduct market research on existing and potential employment markets for Carlson School g students.Develop and execute a communication strategy to share company insights with students (via social media or another avenue).The employer reserves the right to change or assign duties to this position *Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Qualifications:BA/BS degree plus at least eight years of relevant experience, or a Master's Degree plus at least six years of relevant experience.Preferred Qualifications:Industry experience and/or knowledge of the business marketplace-specifically, functions and industries of interest to Carlson studentsExperience working in a metric driven environmentExperience building and development relationships across industries and sectorsExperience managing a team
