We are looking for a committed follower of Christ who is passionate about managing all aspects of Christian Education for our congregation. The Education & Family Ministry Director is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive program of Christian Education and Formation for children (birth - 5th grade), youth (6th grade - 12TH grade), and adults at First Methodist Church of Azle.
SPIRTUAL REQUIREMENTSMaintains a relationship with Jesus Christ, engaging spiritual disciplines (both personal and corporate)Lives a life that exemplifies Christ and seeks purpose and meaning in all aspects of life.Models the standards and expectations of Christian leadership, including positivity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND/WORK EXPERIENCEPossess a baccalaureate degree, preferably in education or a closely related field, and shall have experience teaching or directing educational activities in a Christian setting. Appropriate experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.Communicates enthusiasm for Christian Education and Formation and have an in-depth knowledge of the Bible and Wesleyan Methodism. Advanced study and training in Christian Education is desirable and strongly encouraged.Education experience in a Methodist church environment strongly preferred.Demonstrate communication skills and competencies.Works well with staff and volunteers.
RESPONSIBILITIESProvides staff leadership for the Christian Education Ministry of the church, ensuring that the ministry is in alignment with the church's mission statement, "Know Jesus, Grow in His love, Serve one another, and Share the Gospel."Develops, supports, and equips Education Teams, volunteers, and Sunday School teachers.Interfaces and coordinates with the Pastoral and Program Staff and relevant Ministry Teams to deliver a comprehensive, holistic ministry of Christian Education and Formation. Develops new and creative ministries designed to aid in faith development and integrate Christian Education and Formation into the greater life of the church.Builds relationships with parents, children, and members of the congregation.Ensures the timely production of the related newsletter, worship bulletins and other internal communications, including online media such as Realm, website and social media.Perform other tasks assigned by the Senior Pastor.
