Job Description

This is an entry-level role that offers tremendous potential to grow alongside and within the organization. The Jr. Quality Engineer supports manufacturing and quality assurance processes to ensure effective production and compliance with relevant quality standards. This role also maintains systems and documentation for quality management system certifications (ISO 9001 and IATF 16949), supporting both production quality and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Conduct daily factory walks to identify and report improvement areas.

Support the implementation of quality assurance programs, including inspection methods and process controls.

Co-responsible for the quality of finished goods and shipments, resolving customer concerns as needed.

Conduct First Article Inspections (FAI) and quality checks for part compliance in production and shipping.

Manage non-conforming product control processes and report issues to the Quality Manager.

Develop departmental procedures and standards for maximizing efficiency and fostering continuous improvement.

Support the creation of documentation for customer-required new part/production approval processes using AIAG formats like PPAP, APQP, FMEA, SPC, and MSA.

Maintain project schedules for continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PDCA, and 8 Disciplines methodologies.

Interface with suppliers to address material and component quality issues.

Conduct measurements, tests, and other activities supporting problem-solving processes.

Secondary Responsibilities:

Assist in Quality Management System (QMS) audits and prepare reports for Management Reviews.

Support third-party and customer audits as required.

Contribute to manufacturing process development for new parts.

Maintain production and quality paperwork and records.

Handle documentation requests for compliance with trade agreements and regulations like NAFTA and Dodd-Frank.

Issue production travelers, BOMs, RIRs, and other ERP-related information using Sage 100.

Participate in cost reduction and productivity improvement programs.

Train coworkers in quality management systems and improvement methodologies.

JOB INFORMATION

Starting Salary: $55K - $65K annual salary.

Workweek: Monday to Friday, from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
