The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) seeks a Director of Prospect Research to design, staff and direct a comprehensive program that provides accurate and timely information and analysis about donors and prospects to support the University's fundraising goals. The Director will initiate and maintain a fully-functioning prospect management and tracking system, including analysis and reporting data to support the development staff in their efforts to solicit major gift level fundraising. The incumbent will supervise and manage an advanced prospect research operation utilizing a variety of research techniques and resources for research initiatives.The Director of Prospect Research will report to and work closely with the Assistant Vice President for Advancement Services, other members of the University Advancement Office staff and other University personnel.This position is hybrid eligible after the probationary period.Responsibilities:
Designs, implements and directs a prospect research and management system to support fundraising efforts of the full development staff involved with major gift fundraising. Assists, as required, in planning for any funding campaigns across campus.Generates timely, accurate and reliable information and analysis about individuals, corporations and foundations capable of providing major gifts to the University or Medical team. Identifies proactive research opportunities and creates systems to expand the major gift prospect pool and ensures a pipeline of new potential donors on a continuing basis. Approves, facilitates and monitors capacity rating system for known prospects.Oversees the hiring and training of researchers and prospect management professionals to carry out the department's approved plans. Establishes and maintains standards of quality, accuracy, timeliness, ethical appropriateness, and maintenance for all work produced by research staff.Assures accuracy and integrity of donor and prospect information. Reviews work output of the research unit and adjusts for changes in prospect identification and qualification numbers, changes in product design, new research techniques and resources, hiring and loss of staff and other circumstances.Annual Salary Range: $57,940 - $73,000Qualifications
