The Director of Hiebert Library reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and is responsible for the management and operations of Hiebert Library. This includes planning and implementing programs and services, supervision of all library staff, and budget management.
The Hiebert Library is an academic library which serves Fresno Pacific University, a private Christian university in the Central Valley of California. The library has a small, dedicated staff of librarians who serve the students and faculty of the university community.Anticipated hiring salary range:
$70,000.00-$85,000.00 annually.Beginning date:
January 1, 2025Duties
Manage the financial activities of the library, including development and monitoring of its annual operating budgets and procurement functions.Oversee the development, acquisition, and management of the library’s physical and digital collections to support the university’s academic programs and research needs.Provide leadership in the delivery of information services, including reference assistance and information literacy instruction.Promote the integration of technology to enhance library services and resources.Collaborate with the university’s academic programs and student support services to address student needs.Promote the Library as an academic and student development service center.Develop and implement assessment strategies to measure the effectiveness of library programs and services, utilizing those insights to inform decision-making and program development.Foster a culture of professional development among library staff, supporting ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills and expertise.Serve on Academic Cabinet, President’s Council, and other university committees as required.Complete tasks timely with work that is comprehensive, complete, and accurate.Communicate clearly, listen attentively, and seek to understand others.Collaborate productively with colleagues of varying skillsets.Other job duties as assigned.Culture

Master’s degree in library and information science from an ALA-accredited program.At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in academic library administration, including supervisory experience.Demonstrated leadership abilities in strategic planning, organizational management, personnel management, and team building.Strong understanding of emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in library services.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders.Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in library services and organizational practices.Experience in budget management, resource allocation, and financial planning.Knowledge of relevant legal and ethical issues in academic libraries, including copyright, intellectual freedom, and privacy.Record of scholarly achievement and active involvement in professional organizations preferred.
