Position Overview
The Children's Ministry Director plays a vital role in nurturing the spiritual growth of children and fostering a welcoming community for families at OCEC. This part-time position emphasizes building relationships with children and parents, empowering volunteers, and strategically planning engaging programs that promote the gospel and align the OCEC’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Relationship Building:
Foster meaningful relationships with children and their families, creating a welcoming and inclusive environment. Partner with parents to keep them informed and involved in their child's spiritual journey.
Program Development:
Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote gospel-centered spiritual growth and biblical understanding. Organize seasonal events (Easter, Christmas, Summer events, etc.) that encourage family participation and community involvement.
Volunteer Recruitment and Empowerment:
Recruit, train, and empower volunteers to support children’s ministry programs, ensuring they feel valued and equipped to lead. Provide ongoing support and resources for volunteers, facilitating regular meetings to encourage collaboration and share best practices.
Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with church leadership to develop and implement a vision and strategic plan for the children's ministry that aligns with OCEC’s beliefs, values, and mission. Assess program health and adapt strategies based on feedback from children, parents, and volunteers.
Communication and Outreach:
Promote children’s ministry programs through church communications, social media, and community outreach. Establish a feedback loop with families to ensure programs meet their needs.
Administration:
Maintain accurate records of attendance, volunteer involvement, and program resources. Manage the children's ministry budget in collaboration with the associate pastor and church finance manager.
Qualifications
A strong personal faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to the mission and vision of OCEC.
Experience working with children and families in a church or educational setting.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
Ability to work collaboratively with church staff and volunteers.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
Schedule/Compensation
Part-time position, approximately 20 hours per week, with flexible hours that may include evenings and weekends for events and meetings.
$21-$26 per hour depending on experience, with paid holidays and paid vacation time.
