Inventory Cost Accountant

will play a critical role in managing the financial aspect of inventory and fixed assets, ensuring accurate inventory valuation, and providing valuable insights that support financial decision-making. This role involves working cross-functionally with supply chain, logistics, and service delivery teams, and is key to managing inventory and asset movement, especially for equipment located at customer sites.In addition to being proficient with inventory accounting, this role will require expertise in cost analysis, tracking of fixed assets, and familiarity with the company’s costing methods (Average costing). Experience with closing the books and reconciling costs, reserves, freight, and RMAs is crucial. The ideal candidate will build deep understanding of hardware-as-a-service (HaaS) model, contributing to our evolving business operations.Your Responsibilities:Cost Analysis & Inventory Management:

Analyze and track inventory-related costs (average costs), COGS/depreciation, cost variances and profitability.Apply the average costing method to ensure accurate valuation and tracking.Review and manage landed costs, analyze freight-out, installation costs, and other post-delivery expenses.Ensure proper sales tax application on vendor invoices.Track inventory movements, assess the necessity for inventory reserves, and prepare the required documentation.

Fixed Asset & Equipment Tracking:

Monitor movement of assets between inventory and customer sites at SKU level, and ensure accurate accounting for all equipment.Ensure location-based tax reporting (county, city, state) for equipment is correct.Prepare use tax filing and reconcile with Avalara calculation.Own the property tax filings in over 50 counties with Avalara.Manage returned inventory (RMA) and account for it in NetSuite at net book value, including impairment assessments.

Financial Reporting & Month-End Close:

Ensure timely and accurate month-end close processes for inventory, including reconciliation with third-party warehouse reports.Oversee depreciation postings for assets at customer sites and generate comprehensive asset reports using the Netgain (NetAsset) add-on module in NetSuite.Prepare and present monthly inventory roll-forwards and asset reports. Investigate and resolve discrepancies and variances.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:

Collaborate with procurement, logistics, sales, and finance teams to align inventory levels with business needs and market demands.Support the implementation of NetSuite advanced procurement modules.Drive process improvements and identify opportunities for cost reduction.

What you will bring:BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.CPA and/or Big 4 experience

is preferred.7+ years of experience

in cost accounting, inventory management, and fixed asset tracking, with a preference for candidates familiar with hardware-as-a-service (HaaS) models.Proven experience with the costing method, freight, reserves, warranties, RMAs, and closing books.Proficiency in NetSuite, Netgain

and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and reporting. As part of your overall compensation package, you will also be offered equity in Nile. The compensation offered for this role will depend on your personal qualifications and experience level.
