Req #965Position Summary:Responsible for assisting the Director of Public Safety and Manager, in the overall operations of the Department. The position is a full-time, 12 month Non-exempt (hourly), Professional Staff position. The position of Supervisor will assume the Department leadership role in the absence of the Director and Manager. This position will be an essential component of building community by being a presence on campus. Daily interaction with students, staff and faculty, being a resource, providing safety and security. Albright College invites all individuals to apply and as an equal opportunity employer, we also encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds and groups to apply for this position.Essential Job Functions:Assist the Director and Manager in concert with the Human Resource Department, in recruiting, interviewing and hiring departmental staff.Act as a liaison between Department members, Manager and the Director.Ensure that orders and directives from the Director are followed.Supervise the Department Staff on all shifts, specifically 2nd shift and assist the Director in the evaluation process.Daily interaction with students, staff and faculty, patrolling the campus to ensure safety and security.Conduct progressive counseling, as required, with appropriate staff and promote team orientation and positive coaching techniques.Assist in conflict resolution issues among Department personnel and others within the campus community when appropriate.Assist in the development of operating procedures within the Department. Recommend changes in procedures, rules and regulations when appropriate.Regularly review the Emergency Response Plan and Operations Manual and assist when necessary with any revisions to both.Conduct required fire drills in all campus buildings as assigned.Oversee and approve the tabulation and accuracy of all timecards submitted by members.Assist with investigations of inappropriate or criminal activity.Assign reported incidents to staff for follow-up investigation as needed.Assist with departmental training as assigned.Act as a liaison with facilities and residence life for issuance of keys to students and staff.Assist in gathering of criminal statistics for the Clery and Uniform Crime Report.Assist in the planning and management of large college events to ensure they are conducted safely.Oversee reports written on assigned shifts ensuring proper documentation and essential information is provided on all needed reports.Oversee Public Safety vehicles regarding maintenance issues.Assist in coordination with the Human Resource Department in recruitment, training, and assignment of all Student Public Safety Officers.Qualifications/Prerequisites:COMMUNICATIONExcellent interpersonal and customer service skills.Good written and verbal communication skills.Ability to research and understand the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.Committed to teamwork and diversity.Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis and 200 pounds with assistance.Ability to stand, and or walk for several hours of the shift.Good organizational skills.Ability to manage, motivate and lead team members.Create efficiencies while maintaining a high professional standard.SKILLSAbility to work irregular hours, rotating shifts, as needs of the College dictate.Ability to maintain confidentiality.Proven orientation toward quality service.EMPLOYMENT EXPERIENCEA minimum of 10 years of Law Enforcement or Public Safety or Military related experience.Management level experience (Minimum of 5 years).EDUCATIONHigh School Graduate.LICENSESValid Pennsylvania driver’s license upon hire date and be subject to an annual criminal record and driving record check.About Albright CollegeFounded in 1856, Albright College is the oldest institution of higher learning in Berks County and one of the most economically and culturally diverse colleges in the country.
