To ensure an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness in which students will be served appetizing and nutritious meals.CONTRACT LENGTH:
210 days a yearPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Purchase and maintain an inventory of all foods, supplies, and equipment under established district procedures. Inventory must be sent to the business office at the end of each year.Check all bills and purchase orders for accuracy before presenting them to the business office for payment.Apply for and plan disposition of government commodities as part of the ongoing food service program.Assume responsibility for processing free or reduced meal applications, verification, and monthly claims.Supervise the planning and preparation of any special meals required for district-sponsored events.Assist principals and teachers in the instructional phases of the lunchroom program and in the classroom instructional units of work pertaining to nutrition.Assist in the interviewing, screening and selection of all food service personnel.Assume responsibility for the security of food and supplies.Supervise the storage and care of foods and supplies.Menu plan and communicate menus in a timely manner.Determine the quantities of each food to be prepared daily.Determine the size of serving to meet the necessary requirements with regard to the ages of those served as well as applicable guidelines.Prepare food according to the planned menu and tested, uniform recipes, and determines if the finished product is of best quality both in flavor and appearance before it is served.Plan, oversee and participate in sanitation procedures and the cleaning of kitchen, serving, storage, and dining areas as well as utensils and equipment.Report immediately to the superintendent any problem or accident occurring in the kitchen or the cafeteria premises.Assign, direct, plan, evaluate and supervise the work of the food service employees.Plan work schedules, arrange for substitutes when required, and seek approval for extra employee work hours from the superintendent.Instruct new food service employees in performing their assigned tasks.Monitor employees for cleanliness and sanitary purposes.Assume responsibility for checking that all equipment in the cafeteria area is in safe, working condition, and notify the appropriate authority when repairs or replacements are needed.Maintain records on food and supplies received and used.Assure compliance with all applicable state and local regulations, policies and directives.Be knowledgeable in food service program financial data and strive to ensure the fiscal stability of the food service program through strategies and tactics to encourage participation.Utilize the nutrition and fee programs and/or software effectively and correctly to support and complete other duties.Perform such other duties as may be assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Physical ActivityMobility:
