ResponsibilitiesAs a member of our Senior Management Team, the Director of Content is responsible for overseeing content development across all WFSU Public Media platforms, including radio, television, and online services.

Directly responsible for all activities related to content development, including programming, production, and continuity.

Lead and oversee the flow and design of programming, ensuring high quality and engaging content.

Meet regularly with staff to identify opportunities to enhance local content and ensure quality control of products and services.

Coordinate with the Development and Education departments to develop content across media platforms, with the goal of providing varied and robust opportunities for engagement with WFSU Public Media.

Monitor and facilitate proper allocation of staff, resources, and budget for activities.

Oversee related budgets in coordination with the General Manager and Director of Finance.

Monitor budgets related to media operations, including equipment and staff needs.

Develop and approve concepts for programming (in conjunction with the General Manager when needed), ensuring editorial integrity of all content.

Lead WFSU’s Community Council and encourage member and audience feedback and engagement with our content.

Participate in key community organizations to facilitate partnerships and gain understanding of critical issues impacting the community.

Along with General Manager, serve as a liaison with CPB, PBS, NPR, American Public Media, Public Radio International, and other public media organizations.

Create and report on measurable goals and evaluation strategies for initiatives.

Work with WFSU’s Major Gifts Manager to identify donor interest for funding for specific local initiatives and pursue funding through grants and other fundraising activities to support key programming and educational goals of the station.

Coordinate outsourcing of assessment activities if necessary to meet station objectives.

Review and interpret audience research data for all radio stations, analytics for online engagement and effectiveness of media content across all platforms.

Oversee and manage grants from sponsoring agencies and foundations.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree and six years of related experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and ten years of experience. (Note: a combination of post high school education and experience equal to ten years.)

A valid State of Florida or Georgia Driver’s License or the ability to obtain prior to hire.

Preferred Qualifications

10+ years of experience managing people and projects.

Proven leadership and management skills, particularly in supervising creative staff and managing budgets.

Strong commitment to journalistic standards and editorial integrity.

Proven track record of successful budget management and fundraising.

Broad experience in managing programming and production for both broadcast and streaming media, including studio-based and remote multi-camera productions, digital shorts, and major documentaries.

In-depth knowledge and experience in public media production and programming.

Ability to understand and consistently leverage local programming such as public affairs, culture, music, and history.

Successful track record of building internal collaborations for effective program production and distribution.

Ability to drive collaborative efforts between WFSU Public Media and content partners.

Expertise in strategic planning and data-driven decision-making to effectively serve WFSU Public Media.

Innovative mindset to explore and implement new production models that best serve the community.

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
