We invest in our employees and build relationships that last.We have a Highway Design Project Manager position available to work on diverse projects in our Mid-Atlantic transportation department. This position is located in our Herndon, VA; Washington, DC; Columbia, MD; or Baltimore, MD office.Responsibilities and duties include:Supervising staff on project teams as a project managerBeing responsible for schedules, work in process, and timely completion of project teamsBeing responsible for team quality system tasks as defined in the quality manualBeing a resource as a project engineer on complex projectsDeveloping probable construction cost estimate for projectsUse computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documentsPreparing forecast of workload for projectsCoordinating pricing, estimating, and scoping for proposed projectsPrepares or directs preparation and modification of reports, specifications, plans, schedules, studies, permits and designs for projectsAssist with contract administration and the development of engineering agreements for projectsPreparing and monitoring budgetsVisiting project site(s) to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documentsAttending client meetings - days or nightsMay serve as a technical leaderMay direct and supervise other staffs' projectsOther duties as assignedThe successful candidate will have the following background:Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or universityA minimum of 12 years of experience (or equivalent)Registered PE in any state with ability to obtain in Maryland, DC, and Virginia within six months of start date.The ideal candidate will have any/all of the following:Knowledge of AASHTO, MUTCD and MDOT, DCDOT or VDOT and local design guidelines and manualsFluency in design/modeling software and tools such as: MicroStation, In-Roads, Open-Roads, AutoCAD Civil 3DWell-versed in Roadway design modeling to include cross sections along with grading, drainage & utilitiesKnowledge of VPDES, MDE, and/or DOEE permit requirementsExperience preparing design and construction plansExperience preparing cost estimates and construction specifications or special provisionsExperience in Mid-Atlantic Area to include MD, DC and VA and local governmentsExperienced with report writing as relates to roadway projectsExperience in coordination with various design disciplines, utility coordination and project stakeholdersExperience in preparing scope of work and fee proposalsValid driver's license and acceptable driving recordAt Mead & Hunt we shape the future by putting people first.
