SUMMARY:

The Director of Sales is a member of the hotel’s leadership team and serves as the visionary for the Sales department. The Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing all sales-related activities and strategies to drive hotel room bookings, conference/event sales, and other revenue-generating services. The primary objective is to achieve or exceed revenue goals by maximizing the occupancy and average daily rate (ADR) while maintaining high guest satisfaction. This individual must be a vibrant, creative, and passionate individual who demonstrates excellent communication and leadership. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record and be highly regarded in the luxury group sales industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

Serve as a key leader of the hotel, assisting and supporting as needed.

Oversee, support and motivate both the Group and Leisure Sales team members to assure set goals for rooms, Banquets and Catering, along with Room Rental is achieved.

Serve as a representative of The Dewberry among the Charleston community of vendors, events, and meeting professionals.

Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to drive revenue growth and achieve sales targets.

Manage, train, and motivate the sales team to achieve performance goals.

Identify new business opportunities and develop strategies to expand the hotel's market reach.

Partner with the Marketing team to ensure all collateral and digital material is up to date.

Complete and analyze monthly reports and department recalls as needed.

Implement and modify strategies to achieve budgeted revenue and profit goals.

Retain a portion of the group market, serving as Sales Manager.

Represent the hotel at industry events, trade shows, and conferences to promote property and drive business.

Evaluate and reply to Event and Wedding RFPs, as well as participating in outbound sales initiatives.

Support to Leisure Sales and Luxury Consortia segment by guiding the Leisure Sales Manager in building strong relationships with Travel Agents and other intermediaries.

Develop and manage business plans, making correct and timely recommendations on the market positioning/placement and updated reintroduction of owned assets assigned to existing markets.

Support the Group Sales team with contract negotiation to maximize revenue for rooms, banquets, F&B, spa, meeting space rental, etc.

Apply a proactive and strategic sales approach to business solicitation, including but not limited to phone solicitation, email and internet prospecting, customer appointments, sales missions, blitzes, tradeshow participation, online research, and customer engagement.

Work with the Sales team to outline the monthly and annual strategy for each segment. Track performance of all Sales activities.

Work with the Managing Director and Director of Finance to calculate the success rates of each sales associate.

Calculate and monitor monthly commissions for all positions.

Establish and target accounts and partners and outline goals to accomplish.

Assist in the establishment of Banquet menu pricing, food and beverage minimums, and event facility standards.

COMPENSATION:

Annual salary combined with monthly commissions based on segment performance.
