ABOUT THE DEWBERRY:
As a 2022 Condé Nast Traveler Gold List award recipient for best hotel in the world, The Dewberry is located in the heart of downtown Charleston, bordering historic Marion Square, just steps from the shopping and dining on King Street, Museum Mile and The Gaillard Center. Offering 153 thoughtfully appointed rooms, world-class service and unparalleled views, The Dewberry occupies the former L. Mendel Rivers (circa 1964) federal building and pays homage to Charleston’s century architectural splendor. The hotel features several event spaces, the nationally celebrated cocktail program at the brass bar in The Living Room, the whimsical cocktail lounge Citrus Club, and treatments at our urban oasis, The Spa. The Dewberry is committed to delivering a world-class experience to our discerning guests with a thoughtful approach and flawless execution.
SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
This individual is highly dynamic and involved in overseeing all aspects of hotel operations to ensure exceptional guest experience, profitability, and operational efficiency. In essence, the Managing Director at our luxury hotel is tasked with balancing guest satisfaction, employee management, and financial performance while maintaining the standards of luxury expected from such an establishment. Responsibilities include:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Develop and execute business strategies for the hotel to achieve the objectives set by ownership.
Prepare and implement action plans to facilitate goal achievement through profitable operations and activities in each business area within the property.
Lead with emotional and intellectual maturity, consultative supervision, and ethical work practices.
Assure the hotels organizational structure aligns with the business strategies to achieve established goals and uphold The Dewberry standards.
Delegate responsibilities and supervise the work of executives in each area, providing guidance and motivation to drive their maximum performance and that of their teams through inspirational leadership.
Direct revenue management initiatives to optimize pricing and inventory, maximizing revenue, RevPAR and Profitability.
Represent the needs of operational development projects, renovations, and new projects to assure they are in line with brand vision and operational needs.
Communicate and maintain trustful relationships with ownership, guests, industry partners, the community, and team members as well as being brand ambassadors.
Prepare, present and analyze financial data, drawing conclusions and holding the hotel team accountable to make performance improvements.
Ensure operational excellence standards in each area to maintain the brand positioning as a leader in the industry.
Actively participate in retaining and attracting new guests, achieving the established occupancy, revenue, and ADR as well as guest satisfaction goals.
Continuously maintain and improve all property facilities.
Ensure the recruitment and retention of the best talent, both for their professional qualifications and their alignment with the culture and values.
Be the highest exponent of the People & Culture team, ensuring all team members work together towards its achievement and that our brand values are present and a reality within the property.
Implement sustainability and corporate social responsibility policies within the property and uphold our LEED certification.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS:
Education in hotel management and tourism, from national or international schools or universities. Masters in hospitality management or leadership is desirable.
Professional career within the hospitality industry, in luxury or ultra-luxury establishments.
Demonstrable experience in strategic development and business planning.
Specialization areas: F&B or Rooms, Hotel Manager, General Manager, Operations Director
Deep knowledge of the market and competition.
Calm unemotional leadership style
Fluent in English (other languages, i.e. Spanish, a bonus).
Knowledge and experience in the wellness industry.
Experience in International Hotel Chains and Luxury Brands.
