Environment, Energy & Resources Associate Attorney - Junior to Midlevel

Join an esteemed AmLaw 50 international law firm in our Washington, DC office as a Junior to Mid-Level Associate Attorney. This position focuses on legal counsel regarding environmental, energy, and resource matters, primarily dealing with the Clean Air Act. Compensation:

$235,000.00 - $310,000.00 annually, plus performance-based discretionary bonuses, and a comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, and vision insurance, personal and parental leave, paid holidays, family care benefits, a 401(k) plan, and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide expert legal advice to clients on complex issues surrounding the Clean Air Act and other environmental regulations.

Work closely with senior attorneys to develop strategies for regulatory compliance and policy advocacy.

Represent clients in administrative proceedings, including enforcement actions related to environmental law violations.

Assist in the preparation of legal documents and other materials for court precedents or policy formulation sessions.

Participate in client meetings to discuss prospective legal affairs and ongoing case matters.

Collaborate with other legal teams to address multidisciplinary aspects of environmental law and further the firm’s capabilities in offering comprehensive legal services.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

JD from a top-tier law school and a strong academic record.

Bar admission in Washington, DC or eligibility for waiver.

At least 2-4 years of substantive experience with environmental law, specifically with the Clean Air Act.

Demonstrated capability in legal writing, complex negotiations, and effective advocacy.

Proven competence in managing multiple client issues simultaneously with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in other environmental regulations beyond the CAA is highly regarded.

Prior federal judicial clerkship experience is considered an asset.

Keen interest and background in policy development relating to environmental issues.

Experience representing large corporate clients in a regulatory or government enforcement setting.

Strong interpersonal skills to navigate client consultations and team interactions smoothly.
