Posting Text : Dakota State University is accepting applications for a Director of Municipal Cybersecurity Grant Program. This position requires a strategic leader adept in vulnerability analysis, remediation, stakeholder collaboration, and continuous improvement in security measures. The Director will work closely with internal and external partners to ensure the robust implementation of cybersecurity practices across municipal operations.
NOTE : This position is externally funded and is subject to continual funding.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Security, or related field.
Certifications such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO).
Previous experience working with government entities or in a public sector environment.
Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully leading complex projects.
In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity standards, compliance requirements, and best practices.
Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of a secure email platform.
Select appropriate technologies, manage project timelines, and ensure all technical requirements are met.
Organize educational sessions for local government teams on proactive security practices.
Reinforce best practices to safeguard against future vulnerabilities.
Develop and oversee response strategies to address identified vulnerabilities.
Establish systems to monitor the progress and effectiveness of remediation efforts.
Regularly report findings to senior management and relevant stakeholders to ensure transparency and accountability.
Organize regular meetings and workshops to discuss current cybersecurity challenges, share best practices, and coordinate responses to emerging threats.
Build and maintain partnerships with key cybersecurity organizations, both public and private, to enhance the collective security capabilities and resources available to local governments.
