We're looking for an experienced Lawyer to support our Chief Legal Officer in Jersey. Recognised as a leading advisor, at Mourant we combine exceptional transactional skills with specialist advisory expertise.
Working collaboratively, you'll play an active role in the team focusing primarily on provision of legal advice to the various partnerships, limited partnerships, limited liability partnerships and companies forming part of Mourant, together with their partners and senior management.

About the role
Manage and maintain Mourant's protocols on letters of engagement, terms of business, panel terms, supplier contracts and outsourcing arrangements.
Maintain and update the terms of business for all service lines (excluding MourantGS) and prepare and maintain template letters of engagement.
Review and advise on panel terms and other special terms of business for law firm and consulting clients.
Assist with responding to client and intermediary due diligence inquiries, legal and regulatory questionnaires, and prospective client requests for proposals (RFPs).
Review Mourant's key third party supplier contracts, NDAs and licence and other commercial agreements from a legal and regulatory perspective.
Develop and maintain the in-house legal team's bank of precedent documents and maintain Mourant's legal and regulatory notices and disclaimers on its public website.
Review and advise on facility agreements, bank guarantees and other documents relating to Mourant's external borrowing.
Review and advise on Mourant's intra-group service charge arrangements.
Provide support, as required, to the Chief Legal Officer with Mourant's internal corporate governance arrangements, including shareholders and partners.
Provide in-house legal advice and support on specific projects affecting Mourant.
Liaise with external counsel to ensure the receipt of appropriate advice on legal and regulatory matters affecting Mourant.
Assist the Risk & Compliance team to ensure that Mourant meets the requirements of the relevant bar counsel or law society in each of its locations.
Collaborate with the MourantGS General Counsel team, Risk & Compliance and Knowledge Management team on regulatory developments relevant to Mourant.
Assist the Data Privacy Officer with data protection queries, with input from in-house experts, as appropriate.
You will have line management responsibility for other members in the in-house legal team, including a legal counsel and paralegal and there may be opportunity to recruit further members of the team in the future.
About you
A practical understanding of corporate law is preferred, and in-house experience gained within a regulated environment would also be advantageous.
Ability to manage a diverse and complex workload in a fast-paced environment.
Collaborative working with the wider in-house legal team and other internal stakeholders.
Sensitive to the requirements of working in a professional services firm environment and able to maintain high levels of confidentiality and discretion.
Ability to build strong working relationships across all areas of Mourant, including with Partners and Business Services Teams.
Demonstrable people management skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy skills.
Highly organised, proactive, and diligent.
Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills. Enthusiastic, goal focused and adaptable to change.
