Req #475Tuesday, August 13, 2024SUMMARYThe Senior Tax Accountant supports all aspects of the tax department functions, including preparation and review of tax returns, tax provision, indirect tax filings, and research tax laws and regulations.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrepares and reviews workpapers for corporate federal, state and local income tax returns.Assists with the preparation and review of interim and year-end tax provision workpapers.Reviews and facilitates the monthly sales and use tax returns filings with Avalara.Prepares and reviews federal and state estimated income tax payments and tax return extensions.Assists with responses to taxing authority inquiries.Develops inter-department relationships and interface with personnel to ensure that tax information acquired from other departments is accurate and timely.Performs monthly tax account reconciliations and journal entries.Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.Performs additional duties as assigned.JOB REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in preparing and reviewing corporate tax returns and researching tax issues.Must have excellent analytical and organizational skills and be detail oriented.Must have excellent written, presentation and verbal communication skills.Must have intermediate proficiency with Excel.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSCPA candidate, “Big Four” experience and/or a mix of public and private experience.Experience with SAP or large ERP system.ADDITIONAL INFORMATIONActively supports and complies with Pelican’s objectives, guidelines and commitment to Quality and Safety, with an emphasis on continual improvement.Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.Must be flexible regarding working hours. Must be able to work evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.Must be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.Must be able to travel, nationally and internationally, as necessary.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute non-standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
