of the Math & Sciences Division as part of the Instructional Wing.

Department Specifics: About Orange Coast College Academics The Division of Mathematics and Sciences serves 3000 full-time equivalent students each year in more than 10 academic programs. The Dean of Math and Sciences will join 9 other academic Deans and oversee 2 managers, 50 full-time faculty, more than 75 part-time faculty, 15 classified staff, and 7 distinct facilities.

Summary Plans, organizes, directs, and coordinates instructional programs for an academic division that meets the needs of a highly diverse urban student population.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Specific duties may vary among departments, divisions, and jobs. Incumbents typically perform a substantial portion or all of the following types of duties, as assigned: Provides leadership for program development and oversees curriculum. Directs and prepares the schedule of classes and ensures proper staffing. Communicates with faculty by conducting regular meetings. Conducts performance appraisals and develops improvement plans. Provides leadership for faculty and staff development. Maintains knowledge of new developments in higher education. Directs development of division budgets and manages financial resources. Works cooperatively with other administrators to coordinate programs. Encourages excellence in teaching and orients new faculty. Manages Division facilities and advocates for upgrades. Provides leadership in new technologies to support student success. May apply for annual grants to fund departmental functions. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Physical Demands Knowledge and Skills Advanced specialized professional knowledge of higher education curriculum and instruction. Knowledge of collective bargaining and evaluation practices. Understanding of accreditation processes. Skills in organization and management practices. Advanced human relations skills to build effective teams. Abilities

Ability to perform essential responsibilities and functions. Ability to develop and implement accountability plans. Ability to inspire awareness of diversity. Education and Experience

Possession of a master's degree AND one year of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications

Doctorate degree preferred in a relevant discipline. Conditions of Employment
