www.thewinegroup.com .JOB SUMMARYAs Director of Insights (Retail Trade Sales), you will lead a team of insights professionals with a primary focus on our retailer-facing sales team that manages our business at some of the largest Grocery, Mass, Liquor, and Convenience retailers. You will lead analytical thought leadership that helps our sales team grow our business profitably at these retailers. The job plays an integral role in formulating the marketing, trade development, and sales strategy for TWG brands through analyzing, researching, and understanding consumer and shopper behaviors. This position requires a blend of analytics, marketing, financial savvy, and strategic vision. At your disposal, you will have a suite of rich data sources spanning IRI market data, Consumer Panel data, Retailer loyalty card data, 3-tier system depletion data, internal financials, and a body of industry research and publications. You will report to the Vice President of Insights. This position is eligible for remote-based work.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSLead a team of insights professionals through coaching and functional training.Develop consultative thought leadership in all areas of our retail business such as consumer insights, market research and analysis, merchandising optimization of pricing, promotions and assortment, and competitor analysis.Develop and deploy an automated analytical suite of reporting that helps our sales team track performance, plan, and take actions.Manage a team of dedicated retailer-specific category advisors that lead various insights deliverables either at the request of the retail client or our sales lead, ranging in the areas of pre/post analysis of various campaigns, new item launch pitch, and general category management analysis.Develop a rich body of work that showcases storytelling with data covering emerging trends and their implications for our business.Partner with finance counterparts on best-in-class post-promotion analysis of Marketing and Trade Marketing programs to assess areas of success as well as areas of improvement.Leverage broader research and data sources to improve our analytical deliverables to retail clients and use your retail experience to drive narrative more broadly at the company to make our strategic decisions more retailer-centric.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s Degree or Master’s or equivalent experience in an analytical discipline.Experience in Retail & CPG sector; experience in Beer/Wine/Spirits industry is a plus.Strong familiarity with Retailer-CPG collaboration processes and category management.Strong data manipulation skills in Excel, Power BI, SQL.Extensive background in understanding ways to pull, process, and interpret market scan data including IRI market scans, consumer panel data as well as internal company depletions/shipments to build tools that will identify market opportunities around trends, segment opportunities, and growth areas.Leverage all market data including Source of Volume, Brand Interaction Analysis, Switching Reports, Consumer Demographics, Basket Cart Analysis, Switching, Point of Entry, Consumer Decision Trees, etc. via platforms leveraging Retailer loyalty data.Excellent organizational skills with an ability to work independently as well as in a team environment and be flexible to changes.Ability to simplify complex situations and focus on value and effectiveness.Ability to work and succeed in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment.Support and model all Company procedures and policies.Embrace and demonstrate The Wine Group Core Values – Performance, Empowerment, and Cost-Mindful, and utilize them for all decision-making.Willing to travel with overnight stays as needed.PHYSICAL DEMANDSPrimary work activities are within an office environment.Ability to perform tasks requiring bending, stooping, standing, and twisting in an office environment.COMPENSATIONHiring Salary Range Posted: $166,100 - $249,100.Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience; skills, knowledge, and abilities; education; and other position-related factors.At The Wine Group, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to an environment of mutual respect, diversity, and inclusion.
