Senior Planning Manager - Deputy DirectorSTV is hiring a Senior Planning Manager to serve clients both locally and nationally, based out of our Washington DC transportation planning practice and broader Mid-Atlantic and National transportation planning team.

Our growing team seeks a self-motivated professional with a passion for client service and staff mentoring. We value diverse project management experience, including in transportation planning and design, and across different modes of transport: rail and bus transit, traffic/roadway, bicycle/pedestrian, and emerging technologies. If you have completed specialized technical or management training, we wish to leverage these unique skill-sets.

The candidate will function as a deputy director to the Mid Atlantic planning leader and will have direct responsibility for project management on a range of large and small assignments across the country.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams to develop innovative, high-quality technical products and deliver commercially based design solutions. The successful candidate will have proven experience effectively marketing, scoping, and packaging complex studies, plans, and designs. Management assignments could vary along the full spectrum of project/program life cycle, from feasibility planning, preliminary alternatives development, environmental evaluation, and on through design and implementation.

Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a range of planning, design, and management tasks/projects from inception to construction and performance measurement.

Apply technical and management experience to ensure projects meet or exceed forecasted profit margins.

Cultivate strong STV relationships with client counterparts, supporting positive working relationships among staff at different levels of the organization.

Work directly with clients, other managers, and discipline leads to develop work scopes, budgets, schedules and clear project delivery plans.

Deploy innovative strategies to achieve project goals amidst constrained schedules and budgets.

Manage the work of subconsultant partners to ensure thorough, accurate work products across firms and disciplines.

Manage communication with clients and agency stakeholders; assist in developing strategy and content for external communications with agencies and community groups.

Carry out periodic project reviews and audits to maintain quality delivery and ensure that lessons learned are captured, shared and used to inform/improve future project development and delivery.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Planning, Landscape Architecture, Construction Management, or related discipline; Master’s Degree is desirable.

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience of increasing responsibility advancing transportation plans and designs.

Licensure as a Professional Engineer (P.E.), Licensed Architect (AIA), or Certified Planner (AICP) is preferred.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with ability to form effective relationships.

Strong project management skills; PMP or other management training is desirable.

Experience developing and delivering effective presentations for agency stakeholders; experience facilitating meetings with community members.

Strong technically based leadership skills with proficient understanding of multiple design disciplines, process requirements, and technical standards.

Ability to travel is highly desirable.

Compensation Range:

$154,221.56 - $205,628.74
