Executive Director Job Description
Position Overview:
Project Lazarus is looking for an innovative and forward-thinking Executive Director to advance its mission of helping heal and empower people living with HIV by focusing on wellness, providing housing and offering important support services. The Executive Director will work closely with the Project Lazarus Board of Directors, staff, community leaders and Archdiocese of New Orleans. This role involves fundraising, managing the organization, and ensuring Project Lazarus remains a leader in service delivery, fundraising, and advocacy.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Leadership and Strategy:
Ensure the organization's financial stability and sustainability.
Create and implement strategic plans to achieve the mission and goals of Project Lazarus.
Lead the staff effectively, ensuring their work aligns with the organization's goals and values.
Work with the Board to create a strategic plan for the organization and ultimately execute the work and programs the organization leads and fulfills.
2. Fundraising and Resource Development:
Oversee with the Director of Development and collaborate with the Board to establish a strong financial base for Project Lazarus; adapt private fundraising strategies to evolving funding environments; and deploy targeted approaches to boost contributions from all donor segments.
Cultivate and sustain relationships with donors, foundations, and government agencies.
3. Program Management:
Ensure that Project Lazarus remains aligned with its mission and effectively addresses the needs of its residents living with HIV.
Oversee program outcomes and ensure adherence to applicable regulations, guidelines, and standards.
4. Community Relations and Advocacy:
Act as the main representative for Project Lazarus in community and media interactions.
Foster partnerships with other organizations, stakeholders, and community leaders.
Advocate for policies and resources that benefit the HIV community.
5. Operations and Administration:
Manage daily operations to ensure effective oversight of staff, finances, and resources.
Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Foster a positive organizational culture that encourages staff development and retention.
Qualifications:
Experience in nonprofit leadership, ideally within health or human services sectors.
Proven track record in program management, community engagement, fundraising, and advocacy.
Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
Deep passion for the mission of Project Lazarus and a strong commitment to supporting individuals living with HIV.
This position requires a leader who is compassionate, strategic, and dedicated to making a lasting impact on the lives of Project Lazarus' residents and other individuals living with HIV.
Candidates should be familiar with and supportive of the Catholic Church, its faith and mission.
