Job Responsibilities
Lead a global team to develop and execute the strategic and tactical components of NCR’s global employee & labor relations strategy to help operational leaders foster a positive employee relations environment where employees prefer a direct relationship with managers.
Provide guidance to leaders regarding labor relations issues, effectively respond to union organizing activity, participate in all phases of union contract negotiations to include preparation, bargaining and contingency planning, and advise operational manager in maintaining an effective working relationship with unions while maintaining a high-performance culture in areas where our employees are represented in the United States and Canada.
Provide guidance to leaders regarding labor relations issues, effectively respond to works councils, participate in all phases of negotiations to include preparation, bargaining and contingency planning, and advise operational manager in maintaining an effective working relationship with works councils located outside of US and Canada.
Advise and coach managers in building effective employee engagement practices, issue resolution, and proactive intervention in locations at risk of union activity.
Develop and deliver labor relations training for leaders and HR partners.
Utilize union organizing campaign materials and protocols to effectively respond to union organizing activity.
Assist in all phases of union contract negotiations to include preparation, bargaining, contingency planning.
Advise managers on issues related to union contract administration, contract interpretation and grievance/arbitration matters.
Maintain a centralized grievance management and tracking system.
Ongoing research and monitoring of general union trends, NLRB developments and rulings with potential impact to NCR and key information regarding union with which NCR has relationships.
Research and respond to sophisticated and complex labor relations and employment law issues in a time sensitive manner.
Position required to act as change agent in the organization, sponsoring change initiatives in support of organizational evolution.
Assess and monitor the effectiveness of all development and training initiatives against predefined metrics.
Conduct timely, objective, and detailed internal investigations. Maintain detailed and accurate accounts of investigations with timely memorialization of the notes and supporting documents.
Proactively identify, develop, and implement tools, resources, and solutions that help craft a positive employee experience.
Promote knowledge, understanding, and compliance regarding company policy through coaching, presentations, and training.
Initiate a proactive, strategic approach to employee relations by identifying and analyzing ER data/metrics for themes, trends, and root cause identification. Share findings with key partners in order to develop and deliver a coordinated plan that links to organization and people strategies, helping to advance the results and priorities of the company.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree - a major in business, human resources, labor or related field.
10-15 years of related experience.
Experience with supporting unionized workforces and collective bargaining duties.
Experience in global works councils negotiations and relationships.
Experience in positive employee relations / preventative labor relations efforts.
Ability to influence business leaders and key stakeholders.
Ability to build strong working relationships with remote based managers and corporate based partners.
Ability to comfortably relate and communicate with front line employees, as well as managers at a variety of levels.
Strong project management skills.
Strong Microsoft Office applications, SharePoint, MS Teams and Internet research skills.
Generalist HR knowledge; PHR, SPHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
Ability to travel up to 50%-75% of the time or as needed.
Experience in Employee Relations, including grievance, disciplinary, dismissal etc.
Excellent facilitation, public speaking, interpersonal, and communication skills required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience in union organizing campaigns.
Experience with contract negotiations and administration of collective bargaining agreements.
Master’s Degree preferred.
