Role Summary
The MD, Financial Accounting & Reporting sets the long-term strategy and oversees the financial performance of Alaska’s accounting and reporting functions, including financial accounting, financial reporting, SOX program administration, Mexico finance, and loyalty and partnership finance team. This role establishes strategic goals and direction for a team of leaders that provides accurate, timely, and insightful financial information and solutions.
Key Duties
Leads accounting team through proactive performance management and ongoing feedback, fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning.
Establishes strategic goals for accounting and finance teams to enhance efficiency and accuracy of financial accounting and reporting.
Drives optimal performance within the accounting and finance teams by establishing best-in-class practices and a culture of continuous improvement.
Ensures that accounting policies and procedures are well understood and complied with by finance teams and across the organization.
Oversees timely and accurate close and consolidation.
Oversees timely and accurate preparation and filing of SEC filings including quarterly, annual, and periodic reports (10-Q, 10-K, and 8-K).
Provides subject matter expertise on U.S. GAAP accounting and control guidance to finance teams.
Serves as key point of contact for external audit, facilitating timely resolution of audit questions and findings.
Drives strategic finance initiatives, including merger integration efforts, capital allocation, and high impact projects.
Develops people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback.
Identifies and creates opportunities for the enterprise to simplify our business, increase productivity, and reduce costs.
Assists the Air Group Controller in all aspects related to controller duties.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required:
10 years of experience in financial reporting and accounting including progressive experience in investor relations, or finance.
5 years of people leadership experience.
Bachelor’s degree with a focus in accounting, business administration or related field.
Demonstrated financial acumen skills and understanding of accounting, financial analysis, and valuation.
Outstanding verbal and written skills, with the ability to present data and conclusions in an organized, concise manner.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred:
Master of Business Administration degree.
Salary Range
$188,700 - $311,400 / year
Salary Details
The pay range and total target compensation package listed above is the expected pay offered for this position at the start of employment. Your pay will be based on multiple factors, including location, relevant experience/level, and skillset.
