We are the critical link between our brewery suppliers that produce the beer and the retail outlets where they are sold, as well as the restaurants and bars where they are consumed. We were founded in 1971 and became a MillerCoors LLC in 2008 as part of the joint venture between Miller Brewing Company and Coors Brewing Company, and we remain the only company owned distributor for Molson Coors Beverage Company. Major brand acquisitions occurred in January of 2010 making Coors Distributing Company one of the top 25 largest beer distributors in the country with over 30 suppliers, roughly 14 million cases per year, and nearly 400 employees.
The Headlines:The
Merchandising Supervisor
manages their assigned territory and team of Merchandisers, with specific responsibility in the areas of planning, sales data collection and analysis, reporting, and overall training and development of their teams. This position reports to the
Merchandising Manager.
The Responsibilities:
Performance & Talent Management (40%)
Overall responsibility for training and developing Merchandisers through in market work-withs.
Coach and train Merchandisers at retail.
Must have 6 monthly in market, documented, full day work-withs at retail with Merchandisers.
Coordinate weekly/monthly pre-planners for the team.
Accountable for year-end performance management and calibration processes for their teams; also provides support and input to Sales Leadership regarding Sales Reps.
Route Coverage Management (30%)
Manage and assign specific tasks such as coverage of routes for sales team, managing the vacation day calendars and lead in pre-planning activities.
Relationship Management (15%)
Identify and assist with escalated concerns from Retailers.
Maintain and establish professional customer relationships.
Ensure market standards are maintained within assigned account territory against monthly objectives.
Update sales team on progress against specific goals, MBO’s, incentives and quotas.
Update sales team on current volume and distribution trends weekly.
Create and develop custom programming against established budgets and objectives.
Supports established sales team objectives for budget management, sales volume, and execution.
Other Functions
Will be required to run routes as needed.
Ensures quality standards are enforced through assigned audits.
Other duties as assigned.
The Other Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, or similar field preferred.
3-5 years of sales experience required.
1-3 years of supervisory experience required.
Must be knowledgeable in sales and marketing concepts used in the beverage industry.
Must have professional verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization as well as with retailers, consumers, and suppliers.
Must have at least intermediate knowledge in the use of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Expert in sales tools (Big Tin Can, Karma, VIP, etc.).
Must have valid driver’s license and MVR must fall within the MillerCoors Pre-Employment Background Screening Guidelines.
This position requires daily presence in the office as well as in the market, including face to face and telephone interactions with employees, retailers, and suppliers.
Must be able to lift product up to 30 pounds multiple times per shift.
Periodic lifting above shoulder height.
