Apex Systems is seeking a Project Manager to join a Power Plant Construction Project in the Wheaton, WI area.Job Title:
Project Manager I/II – Power Plant ConstructionLocation:
Wheaton, WI (West/Central WI) and Shakopee, MN (office in downtown Minneapolis or Blue Lake site)Employment Type:
12-month contract (with potential extension through next year or more)Work Hours:
Construction schedule from 7-5, mostly normal business hours with occasional night shifts. Some overtime may be required but typically not expected to work 50-60 hours regularly.Pay Rate:
Up to $78/hrScope/Project:Oversee Power Plant Construction in Wheaton, WI, transitioning to Electrical Construction, completing by end of 2025.Manage construction contracts, including answering technical questions and understanding scope, tech specs, and terms of agreements.Weekly travel to the Wheaton site (1-3 days).Support sister project in Shakopee, MN, with visits 1-2 times per month.Responsibilities:Participate in project meetings and reporting.Review contract terms and collaborate with peers for clarifications.Regularly interact with Contractors and Project Team to discuss updates on budget, schedule, change orders, etc.Collaborate and communicate with various team members.Utilize Microsoft Office suite, SharePoint, CAD, and Microsoft Teams.Typical Day:Conduct project meetings and deep dives into contract terms.Interact with Contractors and Project Team for updates.Collaborate with team members.Maintain project files on SharePoint.Skills/Qualifications:8+ years of experience in Project Management or Construction Management (open to less if applicable).Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, Business Management, or similar field preferred.Experience in full lifecycle construction projects.Strong understanding of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction process.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Team player with a positive attitude.Ability to lead Schedule Review Meetings and coordinate project activities.Strong analytical mindset and process management skills.Fast learner with the ability to use Scheduling software.Ability to report project status and variances to management.Logistics:Location: WI or MN – willingness to drive is essential.Per Diem offered if closer to the site.
