Job PurposeThe Banquet Captain supervises and manages banquet events. The Banquet Captain is responsible for staff schedules, ensuring banquet operations run smoothly, and prioritizing the comfort and safety of guests.A successful Banquet Captain has strong leadership skills, manages multiple streams of information, and remains calm in highly stressful situations.ResponsibilitiesReview and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEO’s) or Event Plan at the beginning of each shift to ensure banquet rooms are set appropriately.Assist managers and organizers with planning the layout and logistics of events.Schedule and manage shifts and timetables.Train staff on serving etiquette.Ensure banquet courses are served on time.Monitor supplies, equipment, and furniture inventory.Tend to guests' requests, questions, and issues.Ensure the venue and facilities remain neat and clean.Ensure safety regulations are communicated and adhered to.Qualifications
QualificationsMinimum of 2 years’ experience in the service industry, preferably in catering/banquet.Ability to communicate effectively with members, guests, co-workers, and management.Strong customer service skills and able to resolve customer issues or complaints.Must be of legal age to sell and serve alcoholic beverages; applicable state card or certificate must be provided if required by state law.EducationHigh School diploma required.Skills/Abilities/Personal CharacteristicsKnowledge of Food Service Regulations.Verbal and Written Communication.Basic Math.Customer Service.Resolve Conflict.Teamwork.Friendliness.Energy Level.Efficiency.Working ConditionsDays and hours of work vary by schedule and business needs.Evening, weekend, and holiday work will be required.While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for long periods of time, to walk, read, hear, talk, balance, climb, use hands, use fingers, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, smell, taste, push or pull. The employee may be required to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
