Job Description

Goodwill of Colorado is seeking a Chief Mission Officer to lead our dynamic Community Impact and Contracts divisions in one of U.S. News and World Report's Top Three Best Places to Live: Colorado Springs. Averaging more than 300 days of blue skies and sunshine each year, Colorado Springs boasts some of the country's most diverse, spectacular scenery and a nearly endless variety of outdoor recreation, nightlife, restaurants, sports and live music.

We have a diverse portfolio of 30+ workforce programs, including the Excel Center, the first and only adult high school in the State. Pay:

$180k-$200k

This full-time position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. In addition, these positions are eligible for paid time off in the form of vacation, sick, holiday, floating holiday, jury duty and bereavement leave. All employees may also make pre-tax or post-tax (Roth) contributions to our retirement plan - must be 18 years of age to participate. Goodwill of Colorado is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) eligible employer.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Chief Mission Officer (CMO) is responsible for providing strategic leadership while executing the mission services arm of the organization.

Working closely with CEO and external stakeholders, the CMO advances Goodwill of Colorado's mission and values by developing and setting strategic direction for Goodwill's Workforce Development and Community Programs. The strategy and its execution require the CMO to understand community service needs and gaps; to collaborate and build partnerships with other community organizations and to successfully balance Return on Mission (ROM) with Return on Investment (ROI) to ensure maximum impact within the framework of long-term financial sustainability.

Working closely with the CEO and through analysis of existing and prospective customer targets and the environment, the CMO develops the strategic direction of the Contracts Division. This individual leads the execution of that strategy to achieve independence through the power of work for people with disabilities and disadvantages, always balancing ROM and ROI to maintain financial sustainability.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS FOR COMMUNITY IMPACT OPERATIONS DIVISION:

Design participant service strategies that relate to the needs of the community and are convenient and easily accessible to participants throughout the community.Provide cutting edge workforce development programs preparing individuals for the jobs of the future.Research workforce statistics and ensure Goodwill is supporting the needs of the Colorado workforce.Provide leadership and direct the accomplishment of strategic and operating goals, contractual obligations and the annual budget.Develop, execute, and evaluate programs to provide and/or expand Goodwill service delivery based on mission, strategic/operating goals, and community/participant needs.Plan, direct and evaluate operations of the CI division including formulating short and long-term goals and objectives.Provide oversight for operational policies, procedures and systems related to program delivery.Exercise budgetary control over the CI division.Collaborate with nonprofit and government workforce development agencies to expand Goodwill's reach in the community.In collaboration with the President/CEO, supports the organization's fund development strategies, and its branding and marketing strategies.Ensure organization meets all federal, state, and local regulatory and compliance guidelines related to program delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS FOR CONTRACTS DIVISION:

Prepare and direct the preparation of Contracts Division long range strategic plans based on corporate goals and growth objectives.Balance growth of commercial, federal and state set-aside contracts to maximize mission impact while remaining profitable.Review operating results of the organization and compare to established objectives; take advantage of opportunities and take steps to correct unsatisfactory results.Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the Ability One program.Create an environment that supports innovation, continuous improvement and appropriate risk taking.Balance margin and revenue growth to ensure profitability.Periodically analyze all contracts for profitability, mission impact, and potential.Evaluate results of Contracts division regularly and report results to CEO.Develop performance standards and KPIs for all contracts.Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are in place and adhered to.Responsible for evaluation and purchase of capital equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:Bachelor's degree in a workforce development related field required.MBA or master's degree non-profit management strongly preferred.Business financial acumen required.Strong industry awareness and preferably well connected in the workforce development community.

Experience:At least 10 years across a broad range of executive and managerial functions including financial management, business management, and strategic planning.Successfully managed annual budget of at least $10M.Experience managing Ability One or other government contracts required.At least five years executive level experience with traditional non-profit or social enterprise.Proven success managing large, complex business units.Experience managing cross-functional teams.Basic computer knowledge, including "hands on" experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook required. Medium skill with Excel is required.
