Job Description

Pay: $17/hour

This part-time position is eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Short Term Disability, Life/Accidental Death and Dismemberment, Flexible Spending Accounts, Long Term Disability, and several voluntary supplemental benefit offerings. Work Schedule: Mon-Sat 4am-8pm

This position has tremendous flexibility in allowing you to set up your own regular schedule; On the application, please state your hours of availability (GoodWheels offers our clients transportation services Monday - Saturday from 4:00 a.m. through 8 P.M.)

JOB SUMMARY:

The Driver, GoodWheels will transport our GoodWheels clients to their medical appointments, community service programs, community resources, and any other events via GoodWheels shuttle van.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Transportation:

The Driver must have compassion and understanding for all GoodWheels clients. The driver must be able to read and understand road maps, maintain, follow and adjust schedule of client pick-up and drop off times. The incumbent will follow rules and regulations for driving within the state of Colorado.

Van Maintenance and Safety:

The Driver is responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle’s interior and exterior. The driver will ensure all clients always utilize seat belts at all times as well as assist clients on and off the vans. The driver will ensure the vehicle’s fuel tank is always maintained at least half full.

Tracking and Reporting:

The Driver will conduct and document the vehicle inspection sheet of the vehicle prior to operating and report any vehicle deficiencies to the supervisor immediately. The driver will maintain a good working knowledge of vehicle accident reporting.

Relationship Management:

The Driver will communicate effectively with clients, co-workers, and staff personnel. In addition, the driver will engage and maintain conversations/interactions/responses with clients that encourage independence and respect. The incumbent will also perform all other duties as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

Some transportation experience; working individuals with physical and or developmental challenges.

Other:

Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with various types of internal and external customers (disabled, seniors, etc.)

Incumbent must be able to perform heavy lifting and sitting for prolonged periods.

Occasional overtime may be required.

Must be comfortable driving in inclement weather.

Must maintain a professional attitude, appropriate hygiene, dress/grooming, and be punctual/dependable.

Compliance:

Goodwill of Colorado’s Goodwheels Department participates in Transdev Health Solutions. Transportation Providers: As the state contracted broker for Health First Colorado, Transdev manages NEMT services for the entire state of Colorado. Transdev focus on providing safe and timely transportation to give Medicaid members more flexibility, freedom and control over their personal health. In Colorado, we need a strong network of independent drivers and transportation providers as well as volunteers, local residents, facilities and community organizations with access to working vehicles to support the Health First program. To obtain proper credentialing for Colorado NEMT Providers, there are additional background checks required:

Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) – Internet Criminal History Check (ICHC)

Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) – Identity History Summary/Rap Sheet (or proof one does not exist)

Colorado Department of Revenue (DMV) – Motor Vehicle Record/Driving Record (7-year search)

The driver must be willing to be certified in CPR and 1st Aid.

The driver must be willing to certify in passenger assistance training, wheelchair securement training, and any further state or federal certification requirements, or HCPF (Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing).

Must be willing to certify in defensive driving course.

All new hires are subject to a pre-employment background, MVR, CAPS, DORA check, and drug screen.

Per contract requirements with vehicle insurance provider: Qualified candidates must be 25 - 70 years of age and have no major traffic violations for previous 3 years (for driving/insurance purposes). Must have reliable transportation; must also be able to operate company vehicle.
