Full-Time, 37.5 hours per week. Hybrid of remote and in-person positionJOB SUMMARY:
Serve as assistant to the Prosecuting Attorney in representing the People of the State of Michigan in legal proceedings. Primary responsibilities include appellate work in Circuit Court, the Court of Appeals, and the Michigan Supreme Court.PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Research and write motions in District Court and Circuit Court as neededResearch and write Court of Appeals briefs on behalf of the PeopleResearch and write briefs for the Supreme Court on behalf of the PeopleAppear and argue briefs in both the Court of Appeals and the Supreme CourtPrepare and present in court cases including motions and trials as neededQUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:Law Degree requiredMichigan Bar membership requiredMinimum of 2+ years of experience in related fieldExperience with writing appellate briefsKnowledge of and adherence to applicable rules of professional conductLegal research and writing abilityPublic speaking abilityFamiliarity with United States and Michigan ConstitutionsKnowledge of applicable case law, statutes, court rules, and rules of evidenceAbility to think logicallyAbility to objectively analyze and evaluate facts and issues to form impartial judgmentsPublic relations skills and ability to work cooperatively with othersAbility to willingly take direction from others and make application to assignmentsWillingness and ability to be flexible and help others as a good team memberOTHER REQUIREMENTS:Employment is dependent on background check, criminal history, and drug screen.
