Job Title:

Position Overview:We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant for a 6-month contract role with the option to work remotely most of the time. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of accounting experience and hold a degree in finance or accounting. In this role, you will assist with daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and general ledger management to support the finance team.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform daily accounting tasks such as preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintaining the general ledger.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Monitor accounts payable and receivable, including processing invoices and preparing payments.
Reconcile bank and credit card statements, resolving any discrepancies.
Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting documentation for management and auditors.
Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and GAAP.
Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts as needed.
Support internal and external audits by providing relevant documentation and explanations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address accounting inquiries and issues.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
3-5 years of relevant accounting experience.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
Solid understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Prior experience working in a remote environment is preferred.
Work Environment:
This position is mostly remote with occasional in-person meetings at our Washington, DC office.
Compensation:
Competitive hourly rate commensurate with experience.
