We are currently seeking a dedicated Psychiatrist with specialization in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our dynamic team at our Norfolk, VA location. This full-time on-site position involves leading and providing psychiatric care within our Residential Treatment programs focused on children and adolescents. The role entails minimal weekend and weeknight call duties, offering a balanced work-life approach. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and treatments for children and adolescents in residential care.

Develop individualized treatment plans that comprehensively address the needs of the patient.

Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient care and progress.

Offer expertise and collaboration in the development of therapy and treatment interventions.

Ensure the highest standards of medical care and compliance with legal, regulatory, and clinical policies and standards.

Supervise medical residents or interns as part of educational and developmental programs.

Maintain up-to-date records of psychiatric evaluations, treatments, medications, and other patient care activities.

Engage with patients' families, educating them about treatment options and ongoing needs.

Lead initiatives to improve patient outcomes and treatment methodologies.

Assist in the management and administration duties as needed or in a potential leadership capacity.

Minimum Qualifications:

Medical Degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) with specialty in Psychiatry.

Fellowship training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Valid and active medical license in the state of Virginia or eligible for licensure.

Demonstrated experience in psychiatric care for children and adolescents.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills appropriate for working with diverse patients and families.

Professional demeanor and capability of working both independently and within a team.

Commitment to ongoing education and professional development.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience in a residential treatment setting.

Demonstrated leadership skills or previous experience in a supervisory role.

Experience in crisis intervention and behavioral management techniques.

Bilingual capabilities are a plus, especially Spanish.

Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Skills:

Expert in DSM-5 diagnostics and tailored treatment plans.

Proficient in modern psychiatric treatment modalities including medication management and psychotherapeutic techniques.

Effective crisis management and decision-making under pressure.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong ethical foundation and sensitivity to confidentiality.

Ability to mentor and educate junior staff and residents.
