JOB GOALS:

Under the direction of the Director of Schools, the Head of Academics (HOA) is responsible for providing leadership, supervision, and direction to instructional staff such as teachers, teacher assistants, and instructional aides. They are in charge of ensuring the implementation of AIMS designated curriculum, establishing procedures, following AIMS policies and regulations, and enforcing the AIMS Model. Furthermore, they are responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

The HOA must ensure that the students receive quality learning experiences while promoting a positive educational environment. This position's main goal is to help students perform at their academic best in school and make sure the school meets all required district, local, state, and federal standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

The Head of Academics is responsible for leading staff and student performance, and setting the tone for excellence within the community;

Keeps abreast of developments of teaching techniques and the impact of new technologies in the subject, and to introduce them into the department as appropriate.

Keeps abreast of developments in all academic subjects and common core standards.

Acts as coordinator for all school site-based state testing CAASPP, ACT, SAT, AP, etc.

Coordinates examples of good practice and enables teachers to share exercises, programs of study, etc. across departments.

Oversees curriculum implementation and development to ensure students are receiving the best possible educational program.

Provides leadership for instructional staff by establishing professional learning opportunities and supervising, leading, and implementing professional development projects.

Evaluates student progress, recommends initiatives to improve student outcomes, and monitors school performance goals;

Recommends innovative approaches to problem-solving based on new trends in education.

Inspires trust while leading by example when it comes to maintaining an equitable learning environment for all.

Fosters positive relationships with both colleagues, superiors, and subordinates;

Monitors the quality of teaching in the school to ensure that it is of the highest possible standard.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.

Master's degree in leadership or education preferred.

3 years of successful teaching experience.

3 years of administrative experience in the educational environment.

Experience in working with K-12 students.

Valid California Driver's License.

Fingerprinting & Tuberculosis test.

KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

Preferred possession of current, valid, appropriate California Credential(s).

Ability to meet the driving and transportation requirements.

Possess excellent organizational skills.

Able to manage complex tasks efficiently and effectively.

Possess an adept understanding of academic standards and teaching practices, as well as a strong knowledge of safety guidelines.
