Super Thrift, a faith-based vocational training program (part of PAC West Adult and Teen Challenge), is currently recruiting for the position of Store Manager for our Portland Thrift Store in Portland, Oregon. We are looking for a highly motivated, organized believer to help fulfill our mission to:provide job-training to Teen Challenge students,offer low-cost, sustainable retail options to local shoppers, andcontribute financial support to local Teen Challenge Centers.This role has a bonus system awarded (above base salary listed above) on a quarterly basis upon hitting internal metrics.At Pacific Northwest Adult and Teen Challenge, we proclaim a desire “to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive. Teen Challenge shall endeavor in its efforts to help people by enriching their lives with actual work experience to enable them to become profitable members of their community.”Examples of Principle Duties:Acts as primary liaison for contacts with persons regarding the ministry of ATCPNW and the Store component.Ensure a positive customer experience; clean environment, positive interactions with staff.Assembles data and prepares regular and periodic reports and statistical data pertaining to the work and overall effectiveness and management of the store retail sales component.Responsible for inventory, maintenance, repair, purchasing and storage of tools, equipment, marking and pricing supplies, job materials and supplies, donations, etc.Accounts for cash income items and deposit of revenues (cash, checks, money orders, etc.) produced from day to day store retail sales.Oversees donation pick-up and delivery processes.Oversees sorting processes and pricing of merchandise.Works to enhance a student’s job skills and work ethic.Plans, assigns, reviews and coordinates staff, volunteers and students' daily work schedule for the thrift store retail sales component. Works with HR at the regional office to successfully hire, terminate and discipline staff.Overseeing management, staff, interns, student, and volunteer participation in store retail sales daily work experience assignments. This position entails a working material style function – This includes lifting, bending, standing, sorting, marking, displaying and cleaning that may exceed 45% of the employee’s time.Supervision Exercised:
The employee exercises full supervision of the store retail sales component and other areas of designated responsibility. This includes: participation in the selection of new personnel, training, performance evaluation, responding to grievances and disciplinary problems.The supervision of managers, staff, volunteers, interns, and students is a regular responsibility of this position.Recruiting Requirements - Knowledge, Skills and Ability:A working knowledge of the methods and practices of supervision and the ability to carry them out.A working knowledge of administrative record-keeping procedures and accounting principles and practices.Considerable ability to work harmoniously with other staff personnel and supervise the work of subordinate employees; An ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.Emotional maturity, professional objectivity, and the ability to act in a Christian manner.The ability to carry out recommendations and directives of the Divisional Lead.High school Graduate or Equivalent.Business experience in retail sales, or experience that enables an individual to effectively manage, oversee and operate a store, effectively interact, work with and supervise staff, volunteers, and students participating in the store’s day-to-day operations.Job Type:
