Job Overview :We are seeking a highly skilled
Data Governance Expert
to lead the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, policies, and practices across the organization. This role will be critical in ensuring data quality, security, compliance, and proper data management, supporting the organization’s strategic data initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders to establish data standards, manage data assets, and foster a data-driven culture.
Key Responsibilities :
Develop and implement data governance frameworks : Establish and maintain a data governance structure, policies, and standards to ensure proper data management and compliance.
Ensure data quality and integrity : Oversee data quality initiatives, including data profiling, cleansing, validation, and auditing processes.
Create and maintain data policies : Define and enforce policies related to data access, usage, security, privacy, and retention.
Data stewardship : Collaborate with data stewards and other stakeholders to manage metadata, data lineage, and data classification.
Compliance and risk management : Ensure that data governance practices comply with relevant regulations (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, etc.) and mitigate risks associated with data management.
Monitor data governance KPIs : Establish metrics to track the effectiveness of data governance initiatives and report on data governance performance.
Drive data literacy initiatives : Promote data literacy within the organization through education and training programs to ensure proper data usage and interpretation.
Collaboration with IT and Business Teams : Work closely with IT, data engineering, data science, and business teams to align data governance with business goals.
Implement data governance tools : Oversee the implementation and use of data governance platforms and tools for efficient data management and monitoring.
Data asset management : Support the development of a data catalog, ensuring proper documentation of data assets and managing metadata effectively.
Key Qualifications :
Bachelor's or Master’s degree
in Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or a related field.
5+ years of experience
in data governance, data management, data quality, or related roles.
Strong understanding of data governance frameworks : Knowledge of frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK, DCAM, or COBIT.
Familiarity with data management tools : Experience with data governance tools like Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of data security and compliance : In-depth understanding of data protection regulations and best practices for secure data handling.
Strong communication and leadership skills : Ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of the organization.
Experience with metadata management and data lineage .
Proficient in data modeling and analysis .
Experience in
large-scale data environments
(cloud platforms, big data ecosystems) is a plus.
Certifications in data governance or related fields
(e.g., CDMP, DGSP) are preferred.
Desired Skills :
Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Experience working in
regulated industries
(finance, healthcare, government) is a plus.
Familiarity with
data privacy laws
such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
