A Data Governance Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing data governance practices within an organization. They develop and enforce data policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, privacy, and compliance. They collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish data governance frameworks, define data ownership, and promote data-driven decision-making.Main Activities:Implement data governance frameworks, tools, and technologies.Monitor and report on the effectiveness of data governance policies and procedures.Prepare and coordinate data governance committees, councils, and working groups.Create and drive a change management plan to make employees think of Data as an asset.Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.Collaborate with IT teams and business stakeholders to ensure alignment of data governance with organizational goals.Provide guidance and support to data owners and data custodians.Complementary Activities:Data Auditing: Conduct regular data audits to review and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and uniqueness of data across various systems.Data Privacy Compliance: Update data policies, procedures, and standards to comply with regulations like GDPR or CCPA, including training staff on data privacy best practices.Data Literacy Training: Conduct workshops, training sessions, or seminars to increase employees' understanding and utilization of data.Academic Training:5+ years of experience in data governance, data management, or a related field.Skills:Knowledge of industry-standard data governance frameworks such as DAMA or DCAM.Knowledge of data-related government regulatory requirements and emerging trends and issues.Familiarity with data security and privacy regulations and standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, and SOX.Experience with data governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, or IBM Information Governance Catalog.Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
